Heart Connections - November 2024

In November, 73 (now formerly) homeless pets made a heart connection with their forever families! Our thanks to adopters for welcoming these amazing pets into their hearts and homes. Above are just a few of the new matches made this month.

If you are considering adoption, we would love to help you meet your new best friend! If you have any questions about adoption or about specific pets, do not hesitate to reach out to our adoption team at (804) 693-5520 ext. 102 or by email.

November 2024 Shelter Snapshot

The generous support of staff, volunteers, and donors enables GMHS to provide daily care, cover special medical needs, foster animals in homes as needed, and arrange transportation to adoption-guaranteed partners.

Interested in helping the shelter this holiday season? How about fostering a shelter dog?! Home Fur the Howlidays is a chance to foster a shelter dog for short-term or long-term so they may celebrate the holidays with a family outside of the shelter. Fostering a shelter dog decreases their stress levels, and it helps them find their forever home! If you're interested in helping a shelter dog, click here to fill out your foster application!

All month long, adopters will spend less on adoption fees and more on toys and treats for their new pets. Simply pick a present and open it up to reveal your reduced adoption fee during our Jingle Paws Adoption Special!

Our dear friend Isabelle made homemade toys for the pets of GMHS. Thank you for sharing your heart for our homeless animals!

Shelter Pet Spotlight - Royal

Meet Royal! This cutie is 5 years old and weighs around 50 lbs. Royal came into the shelter when her owner could no longer care for her. She loves making new friends and is very affectionate when she gets to know you. She has lived with other dogs, cats and small animals and did well with all of them. Royal loves playing outside with toys and enjoys a nice walk and laying in the sunshine. Could you be the match that Royal has been looking for? She would love to spend the holidays with her furever family!
