On March 9th, The Madison Area Builders Association, Milwaukee Metropolitan Builders Association, and NARI of Madison came together to host BuildX, a one-day conference focusing on empowering women in the construction industry.

Sweeney's own Kerry Devlin attended the event and participated in the "Boots on the Ground" panel discussion, sharing her experience as a woman in the construction industry.

Says Kerry, "I was so happy to participate in a conference that promotes and encourages women in the construction industry. My pathway to becoming a carpenter began with an outreach initiative by the University of Wisconsin that introduced women to possible new careers in the trades. Organized outreach gave me the connections needed to get my foot in the door in a male-dominated industry. I feel very lucky to have landed at a company run by a husband and wife team. Sweeney has a culture of self-reflection and advancement that makes working there a joy."
