~Introduction to Normandy Camporee-

April 1994, the Charlemagne and Mayflower Districts hosted a 50th Anniversary Commemoration Camporee near Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. This event was for their Scout Troops and was eventually opened to the rest of the Transatlantic Council (TAC). The early Camporees included a service project involving a beach clean-up. The French authorities have dubbed the Transatlantic Council, BSA as the “Custodians of Omaha Beach.”

The Normandy Camporee 2019 marked the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings and the 25th Anniversary of the first TAC Normandy Camporee. In 2022, the Normandy Camporee transitioned to serve more as an international event and among other Scouting groups, hosted 750 French scouts. In 2024 we will commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-day and again take on new experiences and create special memories! Join us and enjoy your continued adventure in Scouting!

We are thrilled that you are interested in attending the Normandy Camporee. This will be the 11th camporee in our council’s history. It is extra-special as we commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings and Battle of Normandy.

As we invite you to join us, please do not sit back and wait to be “wowed.” Throw yourself into the history, read before you come, help your youth prepare through films, newsreels, and books so that they understand the history and will be moved by the moment.
