Please sign-up to share your family culture with the Puesta del Sol community! The PTA DEI committee is featuring family photos and items from student heritage cultures in our school's display cases. Contributions do not need to represent a particular country and can include items or photos that tell stories about family history, faith, occupation, disability, and other experiences or identities.

Family Meet-Up for Students with Special Needs

Is your student struggling to thrive while becoming biliterate? Bilingual programs like Puesta del Sol are difficult for most students. Additional learning challenges add layers of pressure for many families. Our community is starting a support group for students with learning challenges and their families.

While the term “Special Ed” has carried negative connotations in the past, we are hoping to shed that stigma by creating a strong community that normalizes and embraces the learning challenges our children may face.

It is empowering for students to meet friends who have similar struggles and we know that many parents need a strong support network as they navigate their children's needs. Your child does not need to have an established 504 or IEP for you or your family to join our meet-ups.

Our first ever Family Meet-Up is on February 13th, from 3:45pm to 5:00pm!

We will meet in the Teatro. If the weather is nice, we will play on the playground. If not, we will stay inside. Activities and snacks will be provided. If your child has specific needs we can accommodate or you would like to help plan an activity, please email: specialed@puestadelsolpta.org. Everyone is welcome: siblings, non-parent caregivers, and friends.

Transport yourself to the world of lucha libre Mexican wrestling, with this inspired adaptation of the Chinese legend Hua Mulan. The discovery of a worn pink wrestling mask prompts Nana Lupita, a Wisconsin grandmother, to share her coming of age story growing up in 1960s Texas. As we follow Lupita’s journey, we witness her life as a daring teen tomboy; bike riding with her friends, working at her father’s flower stand, and lucha libre. When a World Championship match is announced, Lupita’s excitement explodes; she anticipates seeing it until she discovers her ailing father is one of the wrestlers. With the help of a magical mask maker, Lupita secretly trains to take her father’s place. She soon finds it difficult keeping her secret from her friends and, most importantly, her father....

SCT recommends for children 8 years old and older due to stylized depictions of Lucha Libre wrestling. Families with younger children may wish to read the book Lucia the Luchadora and discuss these themes before the performance.

STEM Fair Registration is Open!

The STEM Fair Registration is open!!! You heard it, we are having our STEM Fair on April 24th, 2024. STEM Fair is a student-led project-based fair using on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. All students participating in the STEM Fair must register.

International Festival Volunteer Opportunities

Puesta needs TWO CO-CHAIRS for the International Festival in May.

Do you have great organizational skills?

Are you good at directing children and managing a stage?

Please consider signing up!

Responsibilities include

• Work with the PTA communications team to develop promo for the event and registration for the various acts
• Create a rehearsal calendar
• Work with Amity Interns for their dance acts, with Sra Rose for Marimba acts and coordinate with Fiesta Latina and Flamenco acts
• Recruit day of event volunteers
• Collaborate with PTA or 5th grade events for concession sales

Work is heaviest Feb/March (coordinating acts) and then the two weeks leading up to the event.

International Art Fest Day of Coordinator

Want to help us with DAY of coordination for the International Art Fest? This is an amazing opportunity to help out and will not require you to chair or plan the logistics! Come help volunteer with one of our largest community event! Great way to get your feet wet in event volunteering without more commitment.

The Bellevue School District has partnered with Care Solace to complement districtwide efforts to provide our learning community with access to mental health care and support student well-being. Care Solace is a central hub that connects students, staff and their families to care. At no cost to you, Care Solace will quickly and confidentially find available mental health and substance use providers matched to your needs.

Care Solace helps school districts provide care coordination for every student, staff member, and family member in need. The Care Solace team is always available — including nights, weekends, and holidays — in 200+ languages.

BSF Spring for Schools

The Bellevue School Foundation is hosting their annual Spring for Schools event on March 30th, 2024 at The Meydenbauer Center.

Join BSF as we cultivate the next generation with a garden party! Funding raised through Spring for Schools yields critical programming in Bellevue School District. Our annual fundraiser joins community leaders, corporate stakeholders, and philanthropic individuals who are committed to making sure that all 18,000+ students at 28 schools in the District can blossom through programs and enrichment opportunities critical to their growth as students and future leaders of our community.



Join or host a table, get a drink and meal with friends, and stroll through the showcase of student work that our donors support.

National PTA 2023-2024 Multicultural Calendar

WSPTA Essay Contest

The WSPTA Essay Contest is open to Washington students grades K-12 who attend a school with an active PTA/PTSA. The prompt encourages young writers to examine the positive impact made on their lives by an influential role model. Winners will be recognized at our annual Student Recognition Celebration in the spring and will be awarded a very spiffy medal of achievement. The application deadline is February 15th, 2024. Learn more here.

WSPTA Nominating Committee Now Accepting Applications

We are now accepting applications from those interested in serving on the 2024-2026 Washington State PTA Nominating Committee.

This committee will be responsible for the identification, vetting, and nomination of qualified candidates to serve on the 2025-2027 Washington State PTA Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee’s selections, plus any self-declared candidates, will appear on the ballot at the 2025 Washington State PTA Convention.
