We’ll also work on sight words, fluency, letters, and sounds. The program is led by teachers and trained literacy volunteers.

Faith and Environment Weekly

Another heat wave while the U.S. government pulls back from the climate fight

The Bad news:
Britain this week may experience its highest temperature on record — more than 105 degrees Fahrenheit. In France, Greece, Spain and other parts of Europe, the same heat wave has sparked dozens of wildfires. In the U.S., the Southwest and Central Plains expect temperatures up to 110 degrees this week.
Nevertheless, no Republican senators will vote for major climate legislation; after Senator Joe Manchin withdrew support, President Biden’s climate-warming plan collapsed. And last month, the Supreme Court restricted the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) authority to reduce pollution at power plants. “People are . . . terribly disillusioned by the government,” said Anusha Narayanan. The lack of U.S. action on climate change has alarmed many experts. She added: “People see climate as a tomorrow problem. We have to make them see it’s not a tomorrow problem.”

The Good news:
“States are really helping the country achieve our climate goals,” said Kyle Clark-Sutton of RMI, a clean-energy think tank. “They have been leading.” Climate change activists can make more progress on grass-roots organizing than top-down change from Washington. After Manchin dropped climate legislation, Biden vowed to “take strong executive action to meet this moment.” EPA is now drafting regulations curbing vehicle pollution, coal-and-gas-fired power plants, and oil and gas well methane leaks.

The Takeaway: Many corporations large and small, states, organizations focused on Climate Change, and millions of citizens are determined to beat global warming. Keep working!

VISIONING TEAM - 2022

Faith United's Visioning Team believes our best days are ahead of us! We believe that God is doing a new thing, casting a renewed vision for us and we want to hear from you about what that vision might include! We started sharing some of our hopes and dreams for the future of our church on the gathering area whiteboard.
We invite you to continue to share your ideas in person, on the whiteboard, or electronically via google form. Some recent suggestions include:
  • Get youth involved with music again
  • Maintain the organ

As you consider God's vision for our church, we invite you to keep God's mission for the Church in mind. That is to be, make, and mature disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Consider the question, "How can we reach new, younger, and more diverse people?" We also recommend reading “God’s Mixed Ecology” – a 13-page article to help us think in new ways with our visioning.
Sunday School activities are in the Gathering Area weekly between worship services.

Celebrate Wonder home activities are available in the weekly worship emails for Nursery-5th Grade. Pick 1-2 activities to do and learn and wonder about God together. View each week's Bible story and music videos on Amplify Media which has special videos for kids! Follow these steps to register or contact Kathy Schmucker.

Parents, please fill out the Children Registration/Permission form for 2022. This covers all events and Sunday School programs.
