Understanding Environmental Protections in Neighborhoods
Join to learn more about environmental protection requirements during development.
As Austin continues to grow and new people arrive to make their home here, it is vital that the City provide education about regulations that are in place to preserve healthy trees, prevent erosion, and remediation processes on active development sites.
The Development Services Department Community Tree Preservation and Environmental Inspection Teams will host four in-person community engagements in May to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the team, Austin’s tree protection ordinance, sediment and erosion control measures, and address questions about reporting suspected violations and enforcement options.

The Community Tree Preservation and Environmental Inspection Teams are grateful that pandemic conditions have improved to a point where we can resume robust community outreach. We hope this will serve as a re-launch of those previous efforts and look forward to building community partnerships that allow us to collectively protect the environmental integrity of our neighborhoods.
Thank you,
Development Services Department
