Latest Update: Upcoming Public Meeting

Join the 69Express Project Team from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 22, 2024, for a public meeting at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center in Overland Park.

At this meeting, the project team will share the construction work schedule for 2024 and beyond, provide information on tolling and the new configuration at Blue Valley Parkway and answer any questions you have about the U.S. 69 project. This is a meeting you won’t want to miss! For those unable to attend the in-person meeting, a virtual public meeting opportunity will be available on the project website from Feb. 23 to March 25.

Please join us to hear directly from the project team and for the opportunity to ask questions, provide input and stay connected. For more information, please monitor the project website or visit our Facebook or X (Formerly Twitter) pages. We will continue to share updates and provide more information as the meeting approaches. We hope to see you there!

Construction Updates

Welcome to the work zone!

On Feb. 1, both directions of 139th Street reopened as demolition of the existing northbound U.S. 69 bridge over 139th Street was completed. Bridge work will continue across the corridor as construction crews shift to reconstructing the northbound alignment of U.S. 69.

In the coming weeks, prepare for a new traffic configuration at Blue Valley Parkway/U.S. 69 interchange. Traffic on the Blue Valley Parkway to southbound U.S. 69 on-ramp will be shifted onto temporary pavement, allowing crews access to additional work areas within the Blue Valley Parkway interchange. Please be alert, vigilant and mindful of crews as traffic patterns continue to shift.

Several closures will take place as crews continue bridge work, including at 143rd Street and 135th Street. To see which closures will affect your daily commute, please sign up for text alerts.

Behind the Scenes

The photo above depicts the demolition of the northbound U.S. 69 bridge over 139th Street, which was completed this week. Crews will construct a new bridge at this location, installing beams and deck panels in the coming months.
