Summer Solstice Parade Set to SHINE on Santa Barbara Street on June 25

The annual Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Parade and Festival has been a City tradition since the early 1970s. Each year, as many as 100,000 spectators line the streets to see the homegrown parade, an amazing outpouring of creativity from the community.

After a two year hiatus, Solstice is ready to Shine again. “SHINE” is this year’s theme for the 48th annual Solstice Parade and Festival.

The two-day Festival kicks off Friday, June 24, from 4 to 9 p.m. and continues Saturday, June 25, from noon to 9 p.m., with live music from local favorites to internationally known artists, arts and crafts vendors, a beer and wine garden, and food vendors.

The parade will travel up Santa Barbara Street, beginning at Ortega Street at noon on Saturday, June 25. Along this route is the Santa Barbara Courthouse, the Santa Barbara Historical Museum, and the Presidio, all steeped in the history of our community. The parade ends at the Solstice Festival in Alameda Park where the floats will be on display. Be sure to check out Mayor Randy Rowse and City Council members with the pass the hat ensemble.
