Volunteers Make It Happen!

We want to take a moment to extend our deepest gratitude to all the wonderful volunteers who stepped up during last week's rainy weather. You made it possible for us to provide groceries and a holiday meal to 885 households in need. It’s truly inspiring to see such a strong sense of community and selflessness in action. You are all A-mazing, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

Meeting an Unprecedented Need This Holiday Season

The need in our community is greater than ever, with many families facing tough choices just to make ends meet. As rent, utilities, and other essentials take priority, it’s often the grocery budget that gets cut first. We’re seeing more and more of our neighbors in our distribution lines, especially as the holidays add extra pressure to provide for loved ones.

With your help, we can make a difference this season. You can help by purchasing a holiday meal through our online auction or by becoming a monthly donor. Every gift—big or small—goes directly toward easing the burden for local families and ensuring everyone has food to put on the table. Thank you for helping make this season brighter.

Just fill them up and drop them off on December 6th to make a big impact. Let’s come together to make this the best drive ever!

Art Works Art Gallery Holds Annual Holiday Fundraiser thru Dec. 14

On Saturday, November 9, Art Works Gallery kicked off their annual Food Bank of Nevada County fundraiser. You can win art donated by member artists AND help support the Food Bank of Nev. Co. Tickets for the drawing available Nov. 9 - Dec. 14.⁠

Annual Turkey Drive Canceled Due To Weather

The weather may have slowed down our Turkey Drive, but the need for turkeys is still here! We’re accepting turkey donations through the end of December.

You can drop off turkeys at our warehouse:

Where Local Means Local

Woo-Hoo! A local Grocery store where your round up at the register donation will actually go to this county's food bank. We are so excited, Briar Patch in Grass Valley's Round up at the register through December will be going to support The Food Bank of Nevada County. They are the only give at the register in this county that donates to the Food Bank of Nevada County. Thank you Briar Patch!

Sautéed Green Beans with Persimmons

2 Tbsp olive oil
1 large shallot, minced
1 lb thin French green beans, trimmed
5 Fuyu persimmons, hulled, peeled (recommended) and sliced
Salt and pepper, to taste

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shallot and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add green beans and toss until coated in oil. Cover and cook about 3 to 5 minutes or until beans are bright green but just underdone, stirring occasionally.

Add persimmon slices; stir to combine. Continue to cook 2 to 3 minutes or until beans are tender and persimmons are softened (time will vary depending on the size of the beans). Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve warm. Makes 3 to 4 servings.
