A Note from the Director

Dear Families,

We hope for a more regular schedule with fewer disruptions this week, after the recent challenging weather. Students, families and staff have demonstrated such flexibility and resilience!

A big thank you to our Outreach Programs and Adaptive Physical Education teams for planning the IvyMoves community event. Although we were unable to hold the event on Saturday, we will try to reschedule for another date to bring our community together.

Finally, I would like to draw your attention to a couple of needs of the Ivymount School PTA, which works so hard on behalf of families and staff. The PTA is looking for a volunteer for the role of Treasurer. The duties can be performed virtually and with guidance from the PTA executive. We're also very excited to bring back the all-school St. Patrick's Day Dance, last held before the pandemic. The PTA needs help to prepare and to fill some volunteer shifts on the night of the dance. Scroll down to the PTA section for more information.

Enjoy the rest of your evening and continue to stay warm!

Sincerely,

Susan Holt

IvyMoves continues through January

Even with snow days this week, Ivymount students continue to keep moving!

Located near our fitness room is an IvyMoves wall that students can use throughout the day. This wall encourages students to stay active and to try new exercises with their teachers or classmates.

Here we have two people practicing wall squats, which help build leg muscles and improve abdominal strength. Give them a try at home!

Close to the Halfway Mark!

The countdown is on to 1 million steps and Ivymount School students are so close! Our IvyMoves step challenge has students moving to reach 1 million steps in PE classes, recorded on provided pedometers. So far, students have reached a total of 484,314 steps.

Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.

Students in Room 211 learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to the civil rights movement. During the discussion, students discussed his dream that everyone can be friends. Following that, students created an "I have a dream" board and wrote about how they can be a good friend to others.
