Capital Campaign Construction Updates: A New Look AHN

Top: Workers install new drop ceilings, lighting, and smart boards in various classrooms.

Bottom: Ron Ladouceur of PostMktg briefs the team with the latest design rendering of the History Wall to be installed in September.

When the fall semester begins, you'll notice a few changes here at AHN: a campus that has embraced its traditions while taking a leap into the future.

After nearly four years which included the pandemic shutdown, we are putting the finishing touches on the Invest. Ignite. Inspire. capital campaign which saw the construction of the state-of-the-art St. Joseph’s Hall on the site of the former North wing. The renovations, made possible by our generous donors, help to fulfill the overall vision of investing in our campus.

Among the upgrades: ten 1960s era classrooms are being updated with drop ceilings and better lighting, new flooring, fresh paint, electrical access to accommodate technological needs, and interactive touch screens.

We are also finalizing designs of our History Wall and the Carlo Cherubino Athletic Hall of Fame, which will be installed and dedicated in September, as we look to honor and celebrate AHN’s storied history in academics and athletics.

The large-scale project will be completed in time for the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony which coincides with Alumnae Reunion Weekend the weekend of September 22.

PostMktg is providing the designs.

Innovation Lab Makes Strides

At the 2023 Spring Gala, it was revealed that this year’s Paddle Raise would support the creation of a Holy Names Innovation Lab. This project is the brainchild of former principal Michele Musto, who, as she has done for so many years, was thinking about what’s next and what’s best for the future of our students, the school, and the greater community.

Now, we’ve taken the first steps to making that dream a reality; procuring programmable robots, snap circuits, and the start of a maker space. The Lab will be housed in the library and will be a space for students to come explore and create.

By providing our young women with these tools and educational technology needed to succeed in today’s world, they will be able to learn how to leverage them to be the builders of a better world.

Don't Touch That Dial: WAHN PantherVision Coming This Fall

We are excited to announce starting this fall, as an extension of the Innovation Lab project we will be launching "WAHN PantherVision," a student-run live-streaming broadcasting program.

As part of the program, members of the Communications Club will live-stream our morning announcements from a small "studio" within the library/Innovation Lab space.

Additional opportunities will be made available as the year progresses.

Summer Camps in Full Swing

It's been a busy summer thus far on the Holy Names campus, with various camps and clinics.

Tennis Coach Jackie Fiore led her squad on the outdoor courts while Basketball Coach Steve Giglio led his indoors.

Our adventure campers, led by Ms. Moran, during the course of two weeks saw themselves indoor rock climbing, zip lining, canoeing along the Erie Canal, parasailing on Lake George, camping in the Adirondacks, bowling, and so much more. The students bonded and cheered each other on as they faced their fears and bravely took on new challenges.

Still to come: week two of our volleyball camp with Coaches Meghan, Nancy, and Kristen Neff, and our Summer Arts program. There is still time to sign up for both, so follow the link if you're like to take part.
