Innovation Fund Grants Coming in February

An Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) will fund multiple entities, for up to $1,000,000, for innovative ideas and program designs that address existing community needs and have not previously been implemented in our community. The Trust is seeking to fund innovative projects that test new ideas that address existing community needs and have not been previously implemented in our community. Successful proposals will demonstrate invention, theoretical reason for success and courage to explore uncharted territory. The release date is February 8.Click below for more information:

Parenting - Early Literacy (Books for Free) RFP Open *

This request for proposal will fund one agency up to $700,000 to implement the Books for Free initiative which helps ensure young children through age 8, and their families have access to books via community bookshelves placed in public spaces throughout Miami-Dade County.

Reading Enhancements Invitation to Negotiate Opens Feb. 8 *

This Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) will fund one entity, for up to $1,500,000 to reduce summer learning loss and build literacy skills through differentiated literacy intervention (DLI) services in the summer for rising kindergarten through rising second grade children who are behind in reading and pre-reading skills. In addition, the entity will work year round to screen and address literacy in rising kindergarten through fifth grade students with Dyslexia. Along with the direct services, reading enhancement services will include year-round professional development, on-site coaching and consultation for community-based Trust-funded after-school program staff to ensure staff members deliver high-quality DLI and Dyslexia services for participating elementary school children.

Upcoming Virtual Training Opportunities for Youth Development Providers

Creating a Nurturing Learning Environment Peer Learning Group

Starting on February 1

This peer learning series will give K-5 Youth Development (YD) staff the opportunity to reflect on ways to create nurturing learning environments that are supportive, interactive, and engaging. Participants will share the strategies and resources they rely on to create these environments and nurture children's physical, academic, social, and emotional development.


In this initial orientation session, participants will set intentions for the peer learning series and then share the challenges, solutions and common experiences involved in creating a nurturing learning environment.


Once registered on the Trust Academy LMS, you will receive an email with the Zoom link and additional handouts and information one business day before the session.

Creating a balance of thinking and doing learning activities within your after-school schedule can increase both the enjoyment and the learning outcomes for the children in your program. Fortunately, Miami's residents are resilient and committed to addressing the climate crisis, actively seeking solutions and building community strength.


This Spring, join Catalyst Miami's CLEAR program, alongside fellow community members, to discover more about the effects of climate change in South Florida and contribute to solutions that are both for and by you. Join us IN PERSON as we grow community power through awareness and solidarity. 


CLEAR (Community Leadership on the Environment, Advocacy, and Resilience) is a 10-week program that provides participants with the groundwork to become climate justice educators, leaders and innovators in their own communities and beyond.

The Miami Foundation's "Miami Open For Business" Grants Now Open

Through Miami Open For Business, funded by a grant from Wells Fargo, The Miami Foundation is supporting historically underinvested small businesses and nonprofits with grants and loans to buy assets. The goal of what is known as the Collective Real Estate Ownership (CREO) funding opportunity is to facilitate the purchase and shared ownership of commercial real estate by historically underserved nonprofits and small businesses through down payment assistance up to $500,000. Applications are due by either February 15 or April 15. City of Hialeah Looking for Children's General and Specialty Camp Proposals

Change the Life of a Child in Foster Care; Serve on a Citizen Review Panel

Florida Foster Care Review, which advances the safety, stability and success of abused and neglected children, youth and young adults by connecting them to essential services, healthy relationships and forever families, seeks caring community members to volunteer 1 weekday a month for a minimum of 1 year to serve on its Citizen Review Panel (CRP); volunteers must be at least 25 years old. The CRP reviews active, judge-referred child welfare court cases. Reviews are currently conducted virtually.

Community Engagement Manager $55,968.20

The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for performing a variety of community-driven duties with an emphasis on maintaining contact with community groups, parents and other caregivers, providing support to residents on children’s needs, as well as evaluating and responding to community needs concerning children. The incumbent exercises independence of action and will possess considerable knowledge of community activities and needs for children and families and use considerable professional judgment in the performance of community engagement work. Key skills include: Grant administration, Budget management, Systems Management, Customer service, Data Entry, Financial processing, Analytics, Fiscal systems. 


Business Controller - Starting $120,000 Annual

The Business Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of The Children's Trust. This includes, but is not limited to, the supervision of the work performed by the Accountants, Senior Accounting Analysts, Accounting Operations Manager and Fiscal Data Integrity Analyst of The Children’s Trust in accordance with The Children’s Trust (The Trust) procurement and accounting policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Principles (GAAP), regulations promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) and Government Auditing Standards. As directed by the Finance Director, the Business Controller will be engaged in key functions such as planning, managing, monitoring and evaluating the fiscal activities and functions of The Trust and its service providing organizations to ensure that daily and long term financial activities and controls are created and maintained to achieve organizational objective and safeguard assets.

Program Manager - $55,968.20 Annual

This professional position will support the Programs Management Team in implementing strategies that foster collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are delivered in accordance with The Children’s Trust standards and latest evidence-based practices. S/he is responsible for utilizing change management, knowledge, skills, and behaviors to promote continuous quality improvement throughout the assigned contracts and projects. This person will be assigned a caseload of contracts and may serve as initiative/project lead. The attached exhibits include additional responsibilities for the Program Manager leading our Metrics and PPD efforts. Experience working with System-Involved Youth or implementing similar programming is strongly preferred.
