THE HOMECOMING!
After two long years of COVID restrictions and visa challenges, Sister Nectaria has joyfully reunited with her children at the Theotokos Orphanage! During this absence, Sister was in her convent in Greece, caring for other nuns who were seriously ill and hospitalized due to COVID. All the while from afar, Sister supervised the older girls who managed and ran all the operational activities of the school and the orphanages; the online schooling, the daily upkeep, the cyclone repairs as well as accepting 14 new children in need into the orphanage.
Sister back and busy conducting the Girl Child Safety Orientation Programme 2022.
THE MILESTONE!
Sister Nectaria' s return was perfectly timed with the long-awaited governmental inspection of the new high school. For days officials scrupulously inspected every aspect of the school. It is our great joy to share with you that the orphanage management team carried on Sister's impeccable standard resulting in the high school now being on track to receive provisional accreditation! The agency will be filing their report in 30 days and indicate the application fee.

This means once the listed and reported provisions are met permanent accreditation will be granted which allows Sister to:

  • Accept paying and lodging high school students to attend the already prestigious St. Ignatius School.
  • Orphans don't have to pay tuition to attend a neighboring accredited high school to be eligible to take the yearly grade level government exam to obtain a high school diploma.
  • All colleges will accept the student's high school grades/transcript from St. Ignatius High School.
THE JOURNEY!
Sister and her team are working hard to obtain a contractor's quote then a certificate of completion for the government's currently issued requirements.

Short Term Construction 1 year

  1. Roof Repairs = $25,000
  2. Completion of the entire 3rd floor rooms = $129,350.00
  3. Completion of the lift and stairs = $ 4,633.00
  4. Separate backup water source/well for the school = $5,100.
  5. A separate lunchroom/canteen next to the school =$ 8,800.
  6. Completion of the dome roof covering for the quad.
  7. Repair of the orphanage dormitory buildings.

Long Term Administrative Goals 1 to 3 years

  1. Student high achievement scores on the government's yearly rigorous grade level test. This year grades 9 and 10 will meet the challenge at St. Ignatius High School.
  2. Gradually increase teachers salaries to meet government requirements.
THE GOAL!
" The aim of this School is to give a free and good education to our orphan, boys and girls being at the same time completely self sufficient" Sister Nectaria wrote.

We thank you for your support on this journey. St. Ignatius School will continue to be a beacon of light and learning.
