From Mayor Leonard Desiderio...
I begin this message with a word of thanks to all of the people who attended Saturday’s Street Dedication Ceremony in honor of Navy SEAL David M. Tapper, who lost his life in 2003 while serving in Afghanistan. Special thanks goes to the members of the Gold-Star Tapper Family – in particular David’s mother, Judi – as well as the members of VFW Post 1963 and Rolling Thunder Chapter 4 of New Jersey, who were also in attendance. Special thanks also goes to Veterans Advocate Joe Griffies, who played a huge part in the renaming of 89th Street. As I said on Saturday morning, since we cannot have David with us to thank him for his service in-person, we wanted to make certain that his name is synonymous with 89th Street and Landis Avenue, which is steps-away from the vacation home where he spent the summers of his youth.

From The Members of City Council...
At the start of the June 14 City Council meeting, Mayor Desiderio stated that he will continue to work to bring about change to the current State laws that weaken local law enforcement’s ability to maintain public safety – in particular as they relate to issues involving juveniles. The Mayor also reminded everyone that Sea Isle City is still “as safe as ever,” and that anyone who sees or hears anything that they feel is a problem should call the police right away – because that’s why our police officers are there.
Also on June 14, City Council approved numerous resolutions that authorized the annual issuance of ABC licenses to all of the businesses in Sea Isle City that sell liquor.

Bulkhead Repairs
Roadway Reconstruction
Utility Improvements
Paving Projects and More...
In accordance with our typical practice, now that the summer season is here, we try to limit the amount of construction taking place on public property in order to minimize the disruption to our residents and visitors, as for many this time of the year is precious. We also are in the process of preparing and putting into place plans for the next round of capital improvements throughout the City. As these projects move forward through the design, bidding and construction phases, we will continue to provide you with updates on their progress.

Please Be On The Lookout For
Turtles Crossing Our Roads
Please drive slowly and be on the look-out for Diamondback Terrapin Turtles as they cross our busy roads in search of nesting locations! If you see a Diamondback Terrapin crossing the street and you want to assist her, please help her continue in the direction she is headed if you are able – BUT ALWAYS THINK “SAFETY FIRST” and use caution whenever you step into the street.
Please don't stand over turtles taking photos while they are nesting...this may frighten them and they'll walk away. Also, if you see an injured turtle, please call Susan or Steve Ahern, of Sea Isle Terrapin Rescue, at 609-263-7358. If the Aherns are not available, please follow the instructions on their answering machine.

Sea Isle City is a Recycling Community
The Summer Curbside Trash and Recycling Collection Schedule is now in effect, with two collections taking place each week on the following streets and days:
- 1st to 44th Street: Wednesdays and Saturdays
- 45th to 70th Street: Mondays and Thursdays
- 71st to 94th Street: Tuesdays and Fridays
Bulk Trash: Please remember that there are no Curbside Bulk Trash Collections during the summer season. Bulk Trash Collections will resume in the fall.
The Trash & Recycling Drop-Off Area (aka: The Depot), located at 401 JFK Boulevard next to the Bridge, is open daily year-round from 7:15 AM to 2:45 PM (except some holidays).
Please place all trash and recycling in rigid, reusable containers with detachable lids, not to exceed 50-lbs (or 30-gallon size).
To avoid fines, DO NOT place plastic trash bags directly on the curb. All trash and recycling items must be in rigid containers. Seagulls will tear-apart exposed plastic bags and create litter.
Special Note: Please throw-away the old “Mandatory Recycling Laws” magnets that you may have on your refrigerator, because that information is no longer entirely accurate. Sea Isle City’s Department of Public Works is in the process of creating new literature with the latest information about Trash and Recycling regulations.
