Kahlon confirmed for UBCM Housing Summit


BC’s Housing Minister, Ravi Kahlon, will take questions from local government leaders during a session on February 13 at UBCM’s 2024 Housing Summit. UBCM is convening the event to discuss the significant challenges and changes facing the housing system in BC. The two-day summit, February 13-14, will help local governments take stock of recent changes to the way housing is planned for and developed in their communities.

Housing Summit will provide learning credits

for planners

The Planning Institute of BC has recognized participation at UBCM’s 2024 Housing Summit as counting towards its Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) requirement. The CPL system requires all professional members to undertake and report the equivalent of 18 hours (or 18 learning units) of professional learning to PIBC each year. Planners attending the full summit will receive 14.5 units towards the CPL requirement.

Advisors needed for Harm Reduction Community Guide update


UBCM is seeking local government staff to help develop an updated Harm Reduction Community Guide that was originally released in 2005. The Guide will be refreshed to update guidelines, evidence, and tools to support local governments in working with health system partners on harm reduction. Expressions of interest are due by February 9.
