Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Employers, Limits PAGA
In an important victory for all CA employers, the U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that federal law partially overrides the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), a state law allowing employees to sue employers for alleged labor violations on behalf of other employees and the state. PAGA lawsuits are ripe for abuse, increasing employment litigation statewide and imposing staggering costs on employers acting in good faith. SCOTUS’s decision limits individuals from sidestepping arbitration agreements that waive the right to pursue PAGA claims. TODAY! Support Local Housing Projects Being Heard in Fullerton, Brea
Orange County’s severe lack of housing available to all income levels is well-documented—help the Business Council change that by supporting two important housing proposals in North Orange County! Today, June 21, the Fullerton and Brea City Councils will consider two projects led by investors Shopoff Realty and Aera Energy, respectively. The Fullerton project—The Pines at Sunrise Village—would add 153 sorely needed housing units by revitalizing an existing retail space. BIA Orange County put together an easy, one-click tool to let the Fullerton Council know you support this new community. In Brea, the Council will vote on the 1,100-unit Brea265 project. Email the Brea Council to express your support. Leaders need to hear from local businesses how crucial housing is for their workforce and economic development; please consider lending your voice in support of new housing!
