HOW PLACE OF HOPE IS PROTECTING KIDS FROM ABUSE
"I was six when the abuse started. Growing up in the Glades, there were not a lot of options. I was brought into foster care and was in about four placements before I was brought to Place of Hope," Mary Brown states in a recent interview with CBS 12 News.

Mary was brought to Place of Hope by a DCF case worker. "When I first came to the house...I don't even know how to describe it...you just know when your spirit is at peace." Mary was treated like family, shown love and structure at Place of Hope, things she had never experienced before.

"Sometimes there is not a consistent environment for these kids. We have seen kids removed from really egregious situations including human trafficking...We are honored and blessed to be able to take them all into our care during this tumultuous time in their young lives." Charles Bender explains, Founding CEO of Place of Hope.

SUMMER CAMPS AND FAMILY VACATIONS!
HELLO SUMMER! 😎 This is the time of year that our cottages, maternity home, Seven Stars, and other programs gear up for summer camps, activities, outings, and the very special family summer vacations! This is a big part of what makes Place of Hope so special and unique.

We have the privilege of providing so many "firsts" for the kids in our care, from first birthdays, first beach days and first time feeling loved and safe. For Cottage 7, this week they went kayaking for the first time! Stay tuned for more summer vacations, family outings and camp photos!

As we all enjoy these summer months filled with family, fun, adventure, and memory-making, please continue to think of and pray for those in our community who need us the most.
CELEBRATING LOCAL HEROES IN ACTION!
Kids Helping Kids!
"My son, Alessio raised $200.00 for a Place of Hope this week with his lemonade stand! His whole idea was 'to sell lemonade and help other kids.' He's only 2 years old and he's a very bright little guy! Everyone in our community got together and supported him!" - Carmen (mom).
End of the School Year Drive!
Thank you to Spanish River Christian School for hosting an "end of school year collection drive" for Place of Hope’s Shade Tree Family Outreach program. The school collected so much that it filled our Leighan and David Rinker campus administration lobby! This drive was spearheaded by Angel Mom, Melissa Bonaros. Thank you Melissa for your leadership!
Packing the Pantry!
A big thank you to Journey Church Boca Raton! They held month long drive and packed our pantries with food and household items for all of our residential programs! Their drive was so bountiful, it took two trips just to get everything to The Leighan and David Rinker Campus. Drives and tangible donation like these are critical in helping us stretch our household budgets. Just like you budget your home, we do too!
We love our volunteers!
We our volunteers from The Breakers! These amazing volunteers recently were helping us on our Paxson Campus in our Shade Tree Family Outreach Center to sort through, distribute, and organize donations. On our Villages campus, they helped organize furniture for future residents and the surrounding community.
Creating Healthy Habits
Lovebird Cereal generously donated to our campuses, children and families a bounty of healthy cereals packed with superfoods that support gut health! For so many youth in foster care, their most basic physiological needs (water, food, shelter, clothing) are not met, let alone satisfied. Here their basic needs are met and more! They feel safe, loved and nourished. Part of that nourishment is learning healthy living and eating habits.

Throwdown for the Kids is a charity Crossfit competition hosted by @TheCrossfitSquad to raise money for the children and youth in Place of Hope's daily care. The first year they raised over $7,000. Last year they raised nearly to $9,000! Owner and Coach, Derek Bishop says, "Our goal is to raise over $10,000 this year! We created Throwdown For The Kids because we want to make a difference in the world for kids who had little chance at a normal life. We raise these funds in hopes of bettering these children after being saved from trafficking. As a father I can’t imagine this type of thing and how it must affect a person. The least we can do is this."

Registration will be open soon! Want an added challenge? Let Place of Hope give you your own fundraising page and ask your friend and family to support you as you compete to Throwdown For The Kids! Email jamieb@placeofhope.com today!
