Four two-minute tasks you won’t want to miss
Andrea,

As recruiting season continues to heat up (on top of other school responsibilities), we just wanted to share some quick tips to make things easier for you! Each of these tips take only a few minutes, but could have huge payoffs for fall recruiting and beyond!

To-do's this week
Got 5 minutes? Do one (or more) of the suggested activities below. Let us know if you have additional recommendations of quick wins that helped you!
Disable the email auto-fill recipient feature

Imagine this: you just had a great networking conversation with Jane from Bain. Excited to follow-up, you send out an email with specific details about your conversation about Bain and in the blink of an eye, the auto-populate feature pulls up Jane from McKinsey. Whoops!

One of the big issues that people face (I know I did this week!) is sending an email to someone with the same name at a different firm. Many emails have the structure name@company.com, so once you start typing the first name, the "To" field gets auto-filled with the most contacted person (or the person whose email comes first alphabetically). Disable this feature during recruiting season to avoid any accidental emails.

Enable the option to retract an email

You might have been a little too quick to hit "send." Nowadays, many email programs offer ways to undo/retract sent emails!

Click here for a Gmail tutorial on how to enable the "Undo" feature. In Outlook, you have the option to recall an email; click here find out how.

Please note: it is almost impossible to recall a message in time. Sending the recipient a recall often results in a notification that you're *trying* to recall a message. Consider the implication of doubling-down on the mistake vs. leaving it alone. Each situation requires your judgment.
Another quick tip: disconnect from the internet (usually involving just toggling off your WiFi for a few seconds) while you're drafting emails to prevent accidentally sending emails that aren't ready!
Use a standard email address

You may wonder which email address you should use (since your school provides you with one). Your school and personal email addresses are both fine to use, but we recommend that you stick to one of them during recruiting. If you decide to go with your personal email address, make sure that your account name is professional!
Stay up-to-date on the latest news

Don't have time to check news websites or find your inbox flooded with newsletters from multiple news sources? We like listening to Up First and The Daily (podcasts by NPR and The NYT, respectively) which offer short and sweet highlights from national and international news. They're also great conversation starters!
