Supporting Your Practice

Clinical Integration weekly update: View the latest program update

Patient outreach: We are conducting patient outreach on your behalf to support quality outcomes and close quality care gaps. Read more

Dobutamine shortage: There is currently a nationwide shortage of dobutamine due to production delays and increased demand. Dobutamine is utilized in the stress lab, OR and in the inpatient setting. The supply across Advocate Aurora Health has become critically low. Mitigation strategies are going into effect as outlined in this SBAR.

Global contrast shortage update: We’re pleased to share that non-ionic contrast production at the GE manufacturing plant in China continues to increase, allowing us to ease more restrictions and shift our focus from our conservation strategy to standard operations. Click here to review the latest update.

Monkeypox updates: With cases confirmed around the globe, it's important to know how to detect, isolate and communicate any suspect cases as soon as possible. Review the latest updates.

Clarification on new Advocate Aurora visitor guidelines: In line with the new visitor guidelines, and for the continued safety of our visitors, patient visitation with COVID-19 patients should be temporarily restricted during an aerosol generating procedure and after the procedure during the air-exchange period.

Pediatrics COVID-19 vaccine authorization expanded: Following FDA and CDC approval, vaccinations for our patients ages 6 months to 4 years begin this week. We are currently offering the Pfizer three-shot series. We expect to be offering the Moderna vaccine soon.

  • While both vaccines are safe and effective, it is essential that parents understand that with the Pfizer vaccine, there is no protection until after the third shot. Those who prefer Moderna should be advised to wait or seek the vaccine at a retail pharmacy if they feel there is urgency.

  • Parents or legal guardians can schedule a vaccine-only appointment for their child or minor ages 6 months-4 years via their pediatrician’s office, by calling 866-443-2584, scheduling via LiveWell and aah.org/vaccine.

Advancing Consumer-First: We recently launched Enhanced Scheduling for Continuing Health’s Rehabilitation Services – improving access and the scheduling experience for physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy across the enterprise. Enhanced Scheduling is one of Advocate Aurora’s landmark Consumer First initiatives and aims to deliver a simple, consistent scheduling experience whether by phone, online or on site. Through this work, patients with a paper order from an APP physician can now easily self-schedule their PT, OT and SPT appointments in LiveWell, supporting care coordination. We’re rolling out a similar experience for scheduling heart scans in July.
Epic Updates

Epic In Basket Clean-up: Phase 2: Like your Outlook inbox, managing your Epic In Basket can be time consuming and the volume of messages can be overwhelming. On May 10, we applied automatic rules to certain In Basket messages to support you: Expiration dates, removing old informational messages, automatic closure of encounters. Also like your Outlook inbox, your In Basket is not intended for long term storage of messages or tracking patients. Phase two of clean-up has begun which includes retraction of actionable messages in the following folders:

  • Results
  • Result messages
  • Staff messages
  • Phone call
  • Patient portal messages

Review the message and encounter types included in this clean-up.

Epic SlicerDicer online education sessions: To assist with your reporting needs, HIT is offering several interactive SlicerDicer education sessions providing an overview of the tool and how it can help your practice. Epic SlicerDicer is a self-service reporting tool that allows you access to clinical data customizable by a specific patient population to answer questions about diagnoses, demographics and procedures performed. Sessions will be held in July and August. Please be sure you are available to log into Epic production at the time of the session. To join a meeting, pick a date/time that works then click the meeting link within the document. Review and select session dates and times here.
