My mom’s antique desk is a treasured reminder of the days I saw her sitting at the very desk, that is now my place to work. I needed some additional storage other that the drawers, so just this week I noticed two small cabinet doors on the front of it. But the problem is that I need a key to get into them.  I have the drawer keys, but the key necessary for the doors is nowhere to be found.  All to say it started my wheels turning about keys.

We need keys for all kinds of things; doors, hiding places, cars, machinery, safety deposit boxes, desks, etc. But figuratively there is a special key that opens us up to a true and lifelong relationship with Christ. And that key is faith.  For FAITH is God's heavenly key that opens up a multitude of doors.  It is a MASTER key that activates faith to do its job:

Faith first opens our hearts and allows us to come to GOD 

Faith is the key to belief…. that God is real

Faith springs us into trusting God

Faith unlocks God’s strength 

Faith unlocks God’s promises

Faith unlocks God’s forgiveness

Faith unlocks God’s provision

Faith unlocks God’s guidance

Faith reminds us that God hears our prayers

Faith allows us to hear God’s whispers in our hearts

Faith unlocks Hope that is essential when we are burdened with trials

Faith is knowing that God loves us in spite of our mess ups

Hebrews 11:6

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. (ESV)

The Bible tells us faith is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8). Through his compassionate grace, God gives us the very thing we need to follow him. Faith is the path to God. We need only follow it. 

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.  (Hebrews 11:1) Our faith is expressed in actions.

Think for a minute of anything that you know or have been taught through the bible that does not rely on Faith.  It is the MASTER’s key that opens our hearts.   And also closes doors that are not part of his good plan for our lives. 

Long ago God put on my heart the following phrase: 

“Give me the key in the morning, and I will give you the glory of the day?”

The key that "we have" to surrender to God is the key to our heart… for it is God who has the master key to help us through our days, to bear our burdens, to share our joys and to fill us with is SPIRIT! And the only key that he wants from us is the one to our hearts.  Praise God for it is only though his son Jesus and the Holy Spirit that his infinite door of love and grace is opened and provides us moment by moment with his oversight and goodness.   

Next time you are looking for you keys or fumbling around to open a door; let that key be a reminder of God's master key! 

Praise God wherever you are and whatever situation He has allowed you to be in . . . His glory will shine through!
