A Note From the GLF Office
Holly Bernene, Director of Development
Holiday Greetings -
I'd like to thank each and every one of you for your engagement with the Goodnow Library throughout the year. Whether you check out books, attend programs, have renewed your passport, or craft and create in the Sara Sherman NOW Lab ... YOU add to Goodnow's vitality.

I also would like to thank you for your ongoing generosity. Thanks to you, we continue to provide funding to the Library to support its excellence.

As you will read below, we always love to hear from you! Please drop us a line anytime by email or snail mail. Let us know what YOU love about Goodnow.
Warmly,
Holly
Exciting news!
The GLF is happy to announce that thanks to your support, beautiful new furniture has been installed in the Library's Historical Room. As you might remember, in the past year we added acoustical paneling to mitigate the noise level and we painted the room a historical blue. Recently new map and file cases also have arrived so we are now able to finalize the details for updating the room's shelving, storage, and displays. Stay tuned for the progress. We look forward to opening the room for quiet work.
We are pleased to welcome
Gerald Kimber White to the GLF's
Board of Directors
Gerald Kimber White is the Principal and President of Kimber White Communications, an executive communications consultancy working with Board-level, C-suite, and other senior executives. He has led corporate communications programs for more than 20 years, guiding numerous organizations - from start-ups to the Fortune 500 - through times of disruption and transformation. Gerald and his family moved to Sudbury in 2015 and quickly fell in love with the town and the Goodnow Library. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Birmingham-Southern College and a Master of Divinity degree from Harvard Divinity School. Gerald enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, visiting museums, and hiking in his free time.

A Few Fun Facts about Gerald:
  • Gerald's wife, Merrie, is a tutor for dyslexic students at the Carroll School in Lincoln. They have one son, Henry, and a daughter, Jayne.

  • Gerald is an avid traveler who enjoys immersing himself in new cultures. He has traveled to 23 countries and five continents so far and will add another country (Argentina) and continent when he travels to Antarctica in January. In 2017 he took his family on an around-the-world trip traveling through Tanzania, Thailand, and Cambodia.

  • Gerald is an ordained minister of The United Methodist Church. He left parish work in 1999 to pursue a career in business, but still conducts the occasional wedding and delivers a sermon every once in a while.

  • Gerald is a published author and his next book, Breaking Through the Silicon Ceiling: How a 20-year-old, single mother rose to become the world’s first female semiconductor company CEO, will be published in 2023.

We love to hear from YOU
Nothing makes us happier than receiving handwritten notes! One lovely patron recently wrote the following words to Library Director Esmé Green:
Esme,
I moved to Marlboro five years ago. One of the very first things I did was to obtain a Goodnow Library card. (Your excellent reputation precedes you.) The Goodnow has definitely become my second home!

Thank you so much to the exceptional people there; to a person, they are efficient, pleasant, knowledgeable, and patient. Each has been so kind and helpful, always willing to do a book search and going above and beyond for me.

I appreciate, more than I can express, your outstanding library!
Sincerely,
Jane S.
