UCSB Library is pleased to present Kim Yasuda, artist and professor of public practice in the Department of Art, in the Pacific Views: Library Speaker Series for Winter 2024.

Drawing on the UCSB Reads 2024 book, Your Brain on Art: How the Arts Transform Us by Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross, Yasuda will speak about "Public Art and Campus Placemaking: Recentering Artists in Communities of Practice."

New Research Computing and Data Website
The Library and the Office of Research have launched a new web resource, Research Computing and Data (RCD).

RCD serves as UCSB's portal for faculty, students, and researchers to locate campus computing and data resources that are broadly available.
Celebrating Flutist and Composer Gary Schocker
In celebration of the Library’s acquisition of The Gary Schocker Archives, renowned flutist and composer Gary Schocker will perform a selection of original compositions accompanied by pianist Fumi Kuwajima and featuring special guest Gary Woodward.

Aesthetic Mobility and Solidarities at Self Help Graphics and Art
Karen Mary Davalos (Univ. of Minnesota) and Tatiana Reinoza (Univ. of Notre Dame) will discuss their new co-edited book Self Help Graphics at Fifty: A Cornerstone of Latinx Art and Collaborative Artmaking.

The presentation is cosponsored by the Interdisciplinary Humanities Center and in conjunction with the Library's exhibition "Cultura Cura: 50 Years of Self Help Graphics in East LA."

Honoring Sojourner Kincaid Rolle
In recognition of Black History Month, our librarian Angela Chikowero has curated a display honoring the late Sojourner Kincaid Rolle.

Rolle was an award-winning African-American poet, playwright, community activist, TV producer, and Santa Barbara Poet Laureate.
