Family Promise Opens New Shelter
| Family Promise of Kandiyohi County engages the community to end homelessness among families with minor children. With the support of the faith communities, the new shelter located at 545 Pacific Ave SW in Willmar will triple the amount of families that Family Promise is able to serve and offer case management and independence to while helping them find new homes and maintain their dignity. Executive Director Kelsey Vosika anticipates the transition of families from the current Day Center at First Presbyterian Church to the new shelter in the next few months. Family Promise relies on charitable gifts and volunteers to directly impact lives of families in need. Ambassadors celebrating the ribbon cutting with community leaders: Renee Nolting (West Central Industries), Michelle Marotzke (Mid-Minnesota Development Commission), Connor Hutton (Pioneer Heritage Insurance LLC), Julie Anderson (Nesbit Agencies/Kensington Insurance), Sara DeRoo (Christianson PLLP), Doug Kuehnast (United Prairie), Kris Gulbrandsen, Amanda Erickson (Lake Region Bank), and Javier Valenzuela (Bremer Bank). | |

Impact of CFPB's Small Business Lending Data Collection & Reporting Rule on Small Business
Recently the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau finalized a rule that requires lenders to collect and report to the federal government data on applications for credit by small businesses. Most banks and other lenders will be required to collect 81 data fields on loans and loan applications to businesses that make $5 million or less in gross annual revenue. Alarmingly, the CFPB has stated that it intends to make an undisclosed portion of that data accessible to the public.
The purpose of the rule is important – to ensure women and minority-owned small businesses have equitable access to credit. Banks fully support complying with fair lending laws. Unfortunately, the final rule is unnecessarily far-reaching and will potentially put small businesses’ privacy at risk and shrink access to credit for small businesses.
Congress has an opportunity to address concerns with the unintended consequences of this CFPB rule before it takes effect. Write to your members of Congress and share your concerns about the impact of the CFPB’s Small Business Lending Data Collection and Reporting Rule on your small business.
