January Dinner
Special Guest Speaker

Joe Hale
From Iowa Jima to Disney

Wednesday, January 4, 2017
No Host Bar starts at 6:00 p.m.
Dinner starts at 7.p.m.
January Dinner  is "Black & White" Nite

Joe Hale spent more than 35 years at The Walt Disney Company during which he worked as animator, special effects artist, story man, layout man, and producer.

He worked on more than 43 short subjects including Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom, It's Tough To Be A Bird, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too and The Truth About Mother Goose. Joe worked on many of Disney's educational films such as Horns and Antlers, Nature's Living Album and Teeth Are For Chewing. His television credits include Disneyland USA, Disneyland Tenth Anniversary, The Plausible Impossible and Disneyland After Dark. Joe also worked on several classic features including Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, and 101 Dalmatians.

Joe worked most often as a layout artist. Layout artists set the stage for the animation, rendering pencil background layouts for each production scene. These layouts are the catalyst for both the positioning and perspective of the animation, and the design of the final painted backgrounds. But Joe also worked as a character animator, effects animator and special effects artist. He developed an expertise in combining animation and live action, and in that capacity worked on several television specials featuring Walt, as well as on Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Pete's Dragon.

Joe was nominated for an Academy Award for his special effects work on The Black Hole. He also worked on the special effects for Return From Witch Mountain and The Watcher in The Woods, and did the animated titles for The North Avenue Irregulars.

Joe is a WWII USMC veteran and survivor of the Battle of Iwo Jima. He will be sharing about his journey in the military plus the incredible career that followed.

Make sure you have signed up on line or have a current reservation. Hope to see you there!  More information about Joe Hale and the event plus pictures from the December dinner

Who's on First?  Get to Know Your Board Members
Sherm Smoot_ President
As we start 2017, now is a great time to get to know who the movers and shakers are behind the scenes of the Estrella Warbird Museum. The museum continues to grow and expand and it does take a certain type of individual/s to make it all happen. They work for free!  For you!  But they need your support and encouragement, and..., they can always use your help!  Click on Sherm's picture (I'm sure he won't mind) and see who else is working with him behind the scenes.  If you don't see your picture or biography, and you would like it included,.. we have ways. Just   check out or volunteer page. We would love to talk with you!
