$1 Billion Invested and Recommended for Last Mile Broadband Infrastructure in California Communities

Last Mile Federal Funding Account Grant Program Stakeholders,

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has awarded and recommended $1 billion for last mile broadband infrastructure grants across California as part of the Federal Funding Account, which expands broadband internet access for underserved and unserved communities. This includes over $800 million awarded to date and an additional $250+ million recommended for award before the end of the year (at the December 5 and December 19, 2024 Commission voting meetings). These investments benefit disadvantaged and low-income communities across the state.

The $1 billion+ in awards and recommendations includes 101 projects that will benefit almost 2 million Californians in 47 counties as of November 15, 2024.

For a full list of awards and recommendations to date and press information on recent actions, visit the CPUC’s Federal Funding Account Recommendations and Awards webpage. Explore the Federal Funding Account Awards Map and dashboard to learn more about awarded and recommended grant projects and the communities they serve. Thank you for your continued commitment to closing the digital divide in California.
