FROM THE PRINCIPAL -- NOVEMBER 2022

As we pause for Thanksgiving, please know how grateful we are for you and your support of Connections.

When I see our students eagerly walking into the school each morning, I feel blessed that we can provide a warm, safe environment where they can learn, grow, and be shown the love and respect they need.

That wouldn't be possible without the support of our donors, volunteers, parents and community. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to help some of the most underserved children and young adults in our area and to truly change lives. Happy Thanksgiving!

Student Spotlight: Noah Deev -- A 180-Degree Change Reconnects a Family and Their Son

Noah experienced significant regression after his first birthday and was diagnosed with autism. His parents struggled to find a school where he would be understood and be kept safe without the ability to communicate. "We were really lost before we found Connections," recalls his dad Eugene. "My wife would cry, and we feared for Noah's safety and future."

After just one year at Connections, Noah has made incredible progress. His mom Amanda says, "Connections has been nothing less than amazing. They understand him, and Noah has done a 180. When he started at Connections, he was having 30 tantrums a day. That's down to 4 or 5 now. ... Connections is the best thing that ever happened to Noah."

Read Noah's inspiring story to see how he has learned to calm himself and is rebuilding communications skills, reconnecting with his family and socializing with his peers.

SCHOOL NEWS

THANK YOU, DONORS! Goal Achieved!

Our community has come through again! This month, we shared our need to raise $20,000 to finish buying a new school bus to replace our aging bus. This bus enables us to take students to and from swim lessons as part of our focus on drowning prevention.

We raised funds for this bus last school year but inflation drove the cost up further. Thanks to our generous donors -- offline and online -- we've raised the final amount needed and are able to order our new bus!

THANK YOU to everyone who donated, shared our campaign and supported this important effort. We appreciate you and can't wait to share photos of our students on their new bus!

Connecting Throughout the Community

November has given us the opportunity to connect and partner with some incredible groups in the community.

We joined the Palm Beach chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals to celebrate National Philanthropy Day. This large event enables nonprofit leaders to collaborate and honor people who change the world with a giving heart.

The Overcomer Breakfast, hosted by Rooney's Golf Foundation brought together an engaged group that heard an inspiring message from the first-ever autistic contestant in the Miss America pageant, Alexis Wineman. Proceeds from this event benefitted our school and other local nonprofits.

We also partnered with the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Palm Beach County to offer a free seminar for families to learn how to keep children safe near water. This critical issue continues to be a focus of our school.

We're grateful for the opportunity to extend our impact throughout the area and let others know about the important work being done daily at Connections.
