Dear Rondout Families, Faculty and Friends,

Special thanks go out to all our families and our staff for your flexibility and understanding as we dealt with the recent weather issues. We hope the remainder of the winter presents fewer challenges and we can navigate through these last weeks of winter with fewer weather-related interruptions.

February is just around the corner, and we have a busy month planned. We have Hundred’s Day, Groundhog Day, Special activities with the Lake County Forest Preserve District on February 8^th with the K-3 students learning about Bats and their role in the eco-system, buckthorn removal/brush cutting with grades 4-8, the Upper School Dance with DJ Chickenwings returning for a repeat appearance, Lincoln’s Birthday, Valentine’s Day, Family Reading Night, President’s Day, Washington’s Birthday and Leap Day which comes every 4 years. While February is the year’s shortest month, it is one of the busiest of the year. Please note that due to several conflicts the weekend of February 24^th, we will be moving the Family Day of Service with Orphans of the Storm to another date in March or April.

We will also be hosting a multi-cultural experience. A Taste of India, the week of February 26^th with two days of hand-on activities and field trips on Tuesday 2/27 and Wednesday 2/28.

Special thanks to the following parents who are volunteering to coordinate the planning and preparation of these festivities with us here at Rondout.

Thanks go out to Mansi Mehta (Divisha Grade 7), Supriya Nithiyanandam (Aarna Grade 5) and Chaitali Pathak (Aariv Grade 2).

Festivities include tastings, art projects, a fashion show, dance party and dance demonstrations. A schedule of activities will be shared with parents who will be invited to join us for some of the activities as volunteers and participants. It should be an exciting and interesting learning experience. We hope to see you at one or more of the activities open to parents.

Please click on the box above to see the calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. Due to legislative changes, there will be no school on the date of the general election on November 5, 2024 which will add one day to the originally approved calendar. The 2025-2026 calendar is on the drawing board and it should be ready to share by the end of next month. We will follow the high school district (D128) calendar for winter and spring break.

The shopping schedule is as follows. Tuesday grades K & 4th, Wednesday grades 2nd - 3rd, and upper school during lunch, and Thursday grades 5th and 1st. The maximum amount students can spend is $5.00.

The 8th grade World of Work program provides our 8th graders with opportunities to explore careers through field trips into the business, entertainment, financial, and technology worlds of work. If you would like to work with us to host a visit within your “World of Work” or if you have a connection to a host site, please let us know below.

The Public Works Village Department is sponsoring the USAgain “Tree Machine”. They will plant a tree for every filled "Tree Machine". We will be able to keep track of our progress on an individual dashboard which will calculate the impact of our donations.  The collection bin is at the northwest corner of the staff parking lot. Please do not leave items outside of the bin and honor the collection guidelines. Thank you in advance for supporting the efforts of our students to support the future of our planet.

Do you have a pre-schooler ready to start kindergarten next year? Will your child turn 5 before September 1, 2024?

Please contact the office to be added to next year's kindergarten class list. We ask that you share this request with neighbors in the district who have pre-schoolers.

Kindergarten Orientation and Registration will take place on Tuesday April 9, 2024.
