Eastlake Credo: At Eastlake, through intentional actions, we create an environment where students and staff feel safe, appreciated and loved. This is Eastlake. This is home. This is family.

WSPS
Dear Wolves,

This week was Wolf Strong Week. It is a week devoted to school spirit, togetherness, and a celebration of the incredible Eastlake community. It is a week that many students look forward to annually. Some of the activities organized this week included a giving tree, school wide art project, movie night, staff car wash, school wide cookout, Wolves got Talent, Pancake sunrise social, and ice cream social.

We wanted to give a huge shoutout to the leadership team, and specifically Ms. Millet and Ms. Hill. It was a special week - the smiles were wide, and the energy was palpable.

News from the Den
Modified Lockdown

We went into a modified lockdown this week for a threatening situation near the entrance to our campus. Although we’d prefer to not have any dangerous situations anywhere near our campus, ever, there was some benefit. We practice a modified lockdown drill every year. After the police told us our campus was safe we were able to reflect on how we reacted to this unexpected situation. For the most part we did well. Our students and staff were great. There was an exterior door that could not lock, and a couple doors that were not locked or were propped open. So now we know an area to improve on.

Quite a few people talked to me about my follow up announcements over the intercom, to share information about the threat. This is part of the ALICE principles that our district has adopted: Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate.

Inform means to share information so everyone can make decisions for the best way to remain safe. That could be Counter, which could be to block the door or to grab something to throw. Or it could be Evacuate, if the threat is real enough but not very close. In this case we were fortunate that the danger remained off campus
