Recreation All Star Games

The fall recreational soccer season closed out on Sunday with the U9-U12 All Star teams competing on a perfect fall day! Our full-time staff and Directors identified outstanding recreational players based on their overall athleticism, technical abilities, and passion for the game.

Our goal in the all-star games is to recognize the players who are excelling in our recreation program. These players possess characteristics that may make them a good fit for our travel programs in the near future. FC Richmond has a long history of producing high level, competitive players that go on to compete at the college and professional level, and this is where the journey begins. Well done to our All Star teams!

Congrats Coach Jesus Garcia

Congratulations to Coach Jesus Garcia for earning his USSF National C Coaching License! Jesus currently coaches our U12 Magic and Mystx Elite teams. His playing experience includes: Herndon Youth Soccer-at one point ranked #6 in the nation; Herndon HS; Region 1 ODP; U17 US Youth National Team; U20 US Youth National Team Pool Player. We are pleased to have Jesus on our coaching staff!

Beyond the Game Player of the Month

Oliveia Widrick, a member of the U15 Mystx Classic team, likes to give back to the community through volunteering with the children’s ministry of her church, most prominently through their Vacation Bible School, where she has been helping since 2019. She says that she is inspired to help others, and is motivated through the effects it could have on their lives. “What may be something small to me could mean the world to another person,” Oliveia says. “Knowing that, it only makes me want to go out and serve others even more.” Her favorite part of helping within the children’s ministry is knowing that she is making a difference within their lives. She has a lot of fun getting to know them and interacting with them. Oliveia believes that this kind of giving back makes her a better person. In the future, she hopes to continue to apply this kind of helpfulness within her life, and one day she hopes to travel outside of the United States to help people in other countries. Thank you Oliveia, we are lucky to have someone like you in our community!

Alumni Spotlight

Congratulations to former FC Richmond Magic player, Carter Averette, who recently received Academic All-District honors as a member of the University of Lynchburg men's soccer.

Carter is a four-year starter for the Lynchburg Hornets. He was a first-team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference selection at defensive midfield in 2022, helping Lynchburg achieve an 11-3-5 record, as well as the program's 18th NCAA tournament appearance. The team captain scored three goals and made two assists. Great work, Carter!
