Grant Spotlight: Funding available for multicultural initiatives

SaskCulture's Multicultural Initiatives Fund - Project (MIF-P) aims to advance cross-cultural understanding and support work that aligns with the principles of Truth and Reconciliation by supporting projects encouraging people to share, learn, appreciate and respect cultural diversity. MIF-P will be open for applications on January 29, with a deadline on April 1.

Sask Lotteries celebrates 50th anniversary

Sask Lotteries is celebrating 50 years as the main fundraiser for more than 12,000 sport, culture and recreation groups in communities across Saskatchewan. The funding is made possible thanks to a long-standing agreement with the Government of Saskatchewan to direct proceeds from the sale of lottery products to sport, culture and recreation organizations. Thanks to Sask Lotteries, SaskCulture is able to offer programs to distribute this funding and help nurture cultural engagement in the province. Read more

Saskatchewan Arts Awards change into Arts of Celebration

Starting this year, SK Arts is moving on from the Saskatchewan Arts Awards, based on community feedback. In its place is Arts of Celebration, a new event dedicated to acknowledging the vibrancy and richness of the province's arts community and how its contributions improve quality of life. This year's theme is EXPERIENCES, and SK Arts is now receiving recommendations for artists and organizations. Read more

Join Bell Let's Talk Day conversation

The annual Bell Let’s Talk Day awareness campaign is on January 24. The campaign aims to start a conversation about mental health, encouraging Canadians and people around the world to talk and take action to help reduce stigma and promote awareness and understanding. Organizations can join the conversation by sharing their support on social media using #BellLetsTalk and helping inspire others to join. Read more.

Blanket Exercise (Rivers West District for Sport, Culture & Recreation)

The Blanket Exercise is based on using Indigenous methodologies and the goal is to build understanding about our shared history as Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada by walking through pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resistance. By engaging on an emotional and intellectual level, the Blanket Exercise effectively educates and increases empathy.

Culture Camp helps participants develop cultural strength

Organizers, from Muskoday First Nations, identified the need for youth to access the cultural teachings held by many Elders in the region, which led to the development of its multi-generational culture camp.


Now in its second year, the Culture Camp on Muskoday First Nation continues to bring youth and Elders together for a week of knowledge-sharing and land-based education. Read more
