Worship on Sunday

Sunday Sermon Series:

"First Century Stories for 21st Century Living"

As we head into summer, we’ll focus on Biblical wisdom offered by the earliest followers of Jesus. It’s surprising to note the similarity of challenges across the centuries, and it's encouraging to see how the earliest Christians faced them with courage, compassion and ingenuity.

This week is our last Sunday with four worship services. We have one service on Memorial Day weekend and then will switch to our summer schedule with only two worship services, the contemporary and traditional services in the Sanctuary.

Sunday Services

8:45 a.m. Traditional Service in the Chapel

9:30 a.m. Contemporary Service in the Sanctuary

11:00 a.m. Contemporary Family Service in the Fellowship Hall

11:00 a.m. Traditional Service in the Sanctuary

Ways to Serve

Transportation Team

Covenant has a transportation team which helps provide rides to and from doctor appointments for congregants who are unable to drive. Can you spare a couple hours every other month to help? We need you!

Contact Laura Capranica if you're available.

Freedom School Volunteers

This summer Covenant will once again support Freedom School Partners, a summer literacy program for students, through a number of volunteer opportunities. We will partner with Highland Renaissance Academy students and other scholars who will attend the Highland Renaissance Academy site. We need volunteers for all kinds of things to make the program a success. Check out opportunities and sign up here.

Summer Intern Support Team

On Wednesdays this summer we will be providing dinner for our interns during their group reflection time. Breaking bread together will allow our interns and ministry leaders to enjoy social time together while they also enjoy a hot meal! Sign up here to bring dinner for 8 people.

Texas Hash for Roof Above

On the fifth Tuesday of the month (four times a year), volunteers from Covenant cook and serve donated Texas Hash casseroles to more than 300 homeless men who rely on the shelter. Our next date to serve in 2023 is May 30. Casseroles and desserts are needed by May 28.

Texas Hash and desserts can be prepared at home at any time and stored in the church freezer in the Fellowship Hall. Making Texas Hash is easy and a fun activity with the kids. Click here for the recipe and further instructions.

Serving Breakfast at Men's Shelter

Wednesday May 24, 6:00 - 9:00 a.m.

Covenant provides cook team and meal service to guests of the Roof Above Levine Men's Shelter once per month. This is a great opportunity to provide a hot meal and an opportunity for fellowship with these neighbors. Volunteers prepare, serve and help clean up. It is a meaningful and enjoyable time. No special skills required! Sign up to help!

Vacation Bible School Volunteers Needed

August 7-11 from 9 a.m. - Noon

Summer is fast approaching! Help make this year’s VBS a success by volunteering for a day or all week to shepherd a classroom of children or lead a rotation for Vacation Bible School. Middle and High Schoolers are welcome. Sign up here.

Habitat/Stained-Glass Initiative

Last year, Covenant's Session created the Habitat/Stained-Glass Initiative to raise $210,000, half of which will replace four figures in our Sanctuary's stained-glass windows with the other half helping fund The Meadows at Plato Price with Habitat for Humanity in celebration of Habitat’s 40th anniversary. We are grateful to those who have donated more than $155,000 to this fund, leaving us with an additional $55,000 needed in order to reach our goal by June 30. If you would like to speak to someone about contributing to this special giving opportunity, please contact Amy Hunter or donate here. We look forward to celebrating this important milestone in the history of our church and city!
