The Department of Public Safety, Emergency Communications Division, was recently named a 2022 Tyler Technologies Public Sector Excellence award winner, for deploying Tyler’s Enterprise Public Safety and Fire Field Mobile in innovative and impactful ways.

Calvert County Emergency Communications quickly and efficiently handled 105 emergency calls during a chaotic winter storm responsible for blocking roads, snapping trees in half and downing electrical lines. Telecommunicators used a mapping tool within Enterprise Public Safety and features in Fire Field Mobile to map these hazards.
The Atlantic hurricane season has officially begun and the Department of Public Safety, Emergency Management Division, urges citizen awareness and preparedness.

Calvert County is at risk for strong winds, heavy rain, inland flooding and other severe weather. Residents can be “weather ready” by knowing how to receive information and warnings, having a plan and practicing safety during and after a storm.

June is National Cat Adoption Month!

During the month of June, citizens are encouraged to remember our feline friends when considering a new pet. If you are thinking about bringing a new furry family member into your home, this may be just the time to do it. Shelters are full of cats and kittens in need of furrever homes.

Not ready to adopt? Consider donating much-needed cat supplies such as food, treats and toys.

Community centers will be accepting donations throughout the month for the Linda L. Kelley Calvert County Animal Shelter.
