Hailey Knapp De Grave - Teacher at Portland Jewish Academy (Site Staff Award)
Joe Fye - Staff at Tucker Maxon School (Site Staff award)
"Hailey steps up and advocates for her colleagues and children every day. She creates a warm and nurturing environment and has made deep and meaningful connections with children and guardians. Hailey advocates for the most challenging children while meeting the needs of all children in our program." Congratulations Hailey on this Accomplishment!
"Joe Fye is a beloved member of our staff. He has a big heart, is willing to help out wherever he can, and genuinely loves having fun with children. Joe took on leading our aftercare and camp programs with enthusiasm. He navigated these programs through the trials and tribulations of COVID-19 with gusto. The camp has grown in popularity over the years thanks to Joe's creative and thoughtful choices in staffing, activities, and his relationships with families and students." Well done Joe, you deserve it!
Perry Kishaba - Site Coordinator at Curry Public Library (Site Coordinator Award)
Jon Myers - Director at Campfire Columbia (Champion Award)
"Perry Kishaba is a retired teacher, who taught as a classroom teacher for over twenty-five years. After retiring, he joined our afterschool staff in 2018, and his enthusiasm and dedication has been a key to the program's success. This year Perry has expressed interest in building middle school reading and discussion groups. He asked the kids what they might want to read, got copies of the books, and now he regularly has forty of ninety students in grades 6-8 participating in reading enrichment." We applaud you Perry, you are truly making a difference!
"Jon has an unwavering focus on quality and equity. Over the past year he has brought high quality before and afterschool programming to six new schools in the McMinnville area while ensuring the highest quality in our existing 15 locations. Since Jon became director of Campfire Columbia's BAS department he has championed changes that ensure our staff better represent the youth we serve, increasing the percentage of BIPOC staff from 11% two years ago to now over 33%. In total, over the last year, Jon has helped raise $200k to make high quality before and afterschool programming available to families with the greatest historical, social, and economic barriers to care." Kudos, Jon!

The focus of these grants is to prioritize those students experiencing disabilities and other student communities who have been historically underserved. Recipients of these grant funds are encouraged to use these funds to reduce or remove barriers to student participation for these groups. These funds are designed to continue the equity work started in 2021 and continue to mitigate the impacts of the pandemic on those student communities most affected.
