Summer Solstice. Yesterday was the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere… and suddenly, it’s SUMMER! As always, here in New Hampshire, there have been times when we thought it would never arrive.

There's a rare happening in the morning sky, coinciding with the Solstice.
Five Different Planets Will Align In The New Hampshire Night Sky During An Incredibly Rare Display

The summer brings tons of beauty to the landscape of the state, but right now there’s something special happening above us instead. This celestial event in New Hampshire from June 3rd through the end of the month is truly remarkable and we’ve got our eyes glued any time the weather calls for clear evening. The reason? A “parade of planets” you’ll want to be sure to catch!

Coming very soon! The Livery in Sunapee Harbor will open the big green doors for the first concert of the summer featuring the “Decatur Creek” trio, on Friday July 1st at 7:30.

MEET LUCY STONE: Enter the Antebellum World of the Abolition & Women’s Rights Movements

Presenter: Judith Black

In this first-person interpretive program, Judith Black introduces American Lucy Stone, the first woman hired by the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society as a public speaker and the “Shining Star” of the Abolition and Women’s Rights Movements. The presenter dispels well-worn platitudes about the antebellum North by interjecting historic and personal truths about these social reform movements. Her presentation also paints a dynamic and detailed picture of what it takes to change the world you are born into. Follow Lucy as she makes her case for tax resistance, her challenges to marriage laws and motherhood, and her pro-Emancipation response to the Civil War. Go with her to The American Equal Rights Association Convention in May 1869, where she eloquently supports the 15th Amendment, which gave African-American men the vote.

LSPA
“Let’s Be Clear” is LSPA's new campaign to raise awareness about ways residents and visitors to Lake Sunapee and surrounding waterbodies can help protect these precious resources.
The water quality of Lake Sunapee is connected to all the land around this beautiful body of water. It is imperative that good land stewardship practices, such as stormwater management, septic system maintenance and erosion control, be applied by all the stakeholders, land owners, and visitors in order for Lake Sunapee to remain healthy.

Sunapee Trivia
Yes - the Sunapee Middle High School mascot is the Canadian Goose with a 50% response rate. A close second choice was the loon. Why the Canadian Goose? The “Land of the Flying Goose” was the name given by the original inhabitants of the area: “Suna,” meaning goose, and “apee,” meaning lake, are the Native American Algonquin words that describe the shape of the lake, with Sunapee Harbor as the beak of the flying goose.
