A Message from Our President

To The Carondelet Community,

We look forward to honoring our graduating seniors in many ways this week as they prepare for their transition beyond Winton Drive. On Tuesday morning we will welcome our seniors into the Alumnae Association at our Senior Breakfast in the Garaventa Center followed by a Graduation practice at the Concord Pavilion. Our Senior Send-off with De La Salle on Wednesday promises to be a memorable experience on the USS Hornet. The week will culminate with our time honored traditions of the beautiful Baccalaureate ceremony on Thursday, and our Graduation Ceremony at Concord Pavilion on Saturday. While saying goodbye to our seniors is bittersweet, we are filled with pride as we celebrate all they have accomplished. They have created a lasting legacy at Carondelet, and we can’t wait to watch them carry our mission beyond our columned walls.

We had a wonderful weekend for our spring athletes with much to celebrate. Congratulations to our Swim Team who won the NCS Championships this past weekend—our first title since 2013! Eight athletes qualified for the State Championship and will be swimming in Fresno this weekend. Our Rugby team also won the 2023 NorCal girls High School 10s Championship in a clean sweep—outsourcing their appointments 127-0 across four matches. The DLS Trap Team that rosters 16 Carondelet students took first place for both Varsity and JV this past weekend. With that win, the varsity team secured first place for the season with just one event remaining. The track team also had a great showing at the EBAL Championships with several top three individual finishes, and our lacrosse team made it to the second round of NCS quarterfinals. Follow our Instagram @carondeletcougars for all of our complete results. Congratulations and good luck to our amazing Cougar student-athletes!

Thursday evening we celebrated twelve of our students at the Scientific Symposium in our Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation. These students developed scientific questions that they were deeply interested in and designed experiments to answer those questions. They learned how to effectively communicate their results and gained scientific knowledge and mentorship that will help them succeed in future post-secondary STEM fields. We are so proud of our students' hard work and dedication to scientific research. A big thank you to Dr. Katie Hutches and Dr. Susan Domanico for spearheading this event and supporting our students through their important research.

Finally, we wish a blessed Mother’s Day to all our mothers and mother figures in the Carondelet community!

In Unifying Love,

Jessica Mix

President

Reminders + Requests

Yearbook Distribution

All Carondelet students receive a copy of the yearbook as part of their tuition. Yearbooks will be distributed to seniors in good standing on May 16 at the end of Senior Breakfast and all other students in good standing after school on May 17. All students must be in good standing with the Library, Student Life, Athletics, and Finance to receive their yearbook. Students who are unable to pick up their yearbook or are missing a prior year should see Michelle Koski '98 in the Library for their copy.

Epicurean Cafe Update

For returning students, MySchoolBucks funds will rollover to next school year. Students/families who are not returning can contact Epicurean directly for a refund of their remaining balance. This is a friendly reminder to treat your school lunch account pin as if it were a bank account pin. Please do not share codes with friends or classmates or use your code to buy food for others. Questions? Please contact Candace Barnes, Cafe Manager.

Locker Clean Out

Classes of ‘24, ‘25, and ‘26 are required to clean out their lockers before Thursday, May 25. Students will be keeping their locks over the summer and reusing them next school year. Questions? Reach out to Alexis Bustamante, Assistant Dean of Students.

Open Parking Starting Wednesday, May 17

With our seniors officially off campus, all driving students may park on campus starting Wednesday, May 17. There will be open spaces in our S Lot on a first-come, first-served basis. These spaces are marked in red on the map below. Please do not park in the covered garage or the C Lot, as these spaces are typically reserved for staff.

Morning Shuttle Service 2023-24

The morning shuttle service will continue, resuming at the beginning of the 2023-24 school year. Morning shuttle service is filled on a first-come, first-served basis at $1,200 per year and is billed through your tuition payments. Communal pick-up locations are in Livermore, Pleasanton, and Danville. This service is offered exclusively to our Carondelet students and their De La Salle siblings who sign up before June 30. After that, we open the service to DLS students until the fus is full. If you are interested in this service please click this link to sign up

Attendance & Final Exams

Students are expected to attend class for their final exams at the end of the semester. There are no make-up exam options for semester two. Please plan any unexcused absences around these important dates. Students who are unexpectedly ill must proactively communicate with each of their teachers to ensure that they are able to close out the semester appropriately. All students are responsible for all coursework, including final exams, projects, and presentations.

Upcoming Construction Work

Treat Boulevard Road Project

In preparation for a larger summer project, the city plans on performing some work in the next 10-15 days on Treat Boulevard. They have agreed to limit activity in our neighborhood between the hours of 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

The next few weeks are mostly exploratory and preparatory in nature. They need to locate existing utilities, which will require the closure of one lane. They also plan to start some of the curb cutting for ADA compliance and tree trimming. There will be flagmen assisting drivers coming in and out of the high school driveways during lane closures.

The city is aware of our school schedule and is trying to work with us on minimizing the impact for the next few weeks while trying to keep on schedule so they are out of our way this fall. If you are driving to campus, please give yourself plenty of time to avoid any potential delays due to this road work. You can get up-to-date information from the city's website here.
