The Estrella Warbirds Museum has always been known for its constant change and quality of the displays.  If you have not been to the museum in a while, there is no better time then this summer to catch up on the latest aircraft, military vehicle or automotive display that has become part of the museum since the last time you visited.

If you have a little bit of extra time on your hands and are looking for a new hobby or willing to share your knowledge or even learn something new, we are always looking for gift shop workers,  docents or volunteers in the restoration or maintenance areas.  We are all family and would like you to join us!  It's fun! There are plenty of new friends to meet and enjoyable times to be had. Contact us today!  We'd love to hear from you.

May Dinner
Special Guest Speaker

Bruce Wright
Understanding Stealth

Wednesday, May 3d, 2017
No Host Bar starts at 6:00 p.m.
Dinner starts at 7.p.m.

Bruce Wright has taught at Cal Poly for the last 9 years. Before that he spent 46 years in the Aerospace Industry at NASA, Lockheed Martin, SkyCat (a British company), and AeroVehicles ( a company he started at Santa Maria Airport and planned to move to Paso Robles Airport to design and build hybrid airships). He has participated in the design of 31 aircraft and spacecraft. He led the design of 19 aircraft as program manager. He is the father of the F/A-22 Raptor, our stealthy air superiority fighter.

While in Industry, he served as an advisor to NASA Headquarters on Programs and Budgets, Department of Transportation on International Aircraft Noise Rules, and Congressional Office of Technology.

He taught aircraft design at Cal Poly for 6 years. His students won first place in the AIAA International Aircraft Design competition 5 of those 6 years. He gave up teaching design and began teaching the History of Air and Space, a technical elective for non-engineering students. This is the most popular elective at Cal Poly with 1,500 students taking his class each year with over 300 on a yearly waiting list. After searching for a text book for 2 years and not finding one, he began writing one 2 years ago and will introduce volume one (Aircraft Evolution;  Military) to his classes this fall. Eventually it will be 3 volumes: military, commercial, and aircraft of the future.

Bruce will give a presentation on stealth.

Make sure you have signed up on line or have a current reservation. Hope to see you there!  More information about Joe Hale and the event plus pictures from the March dinner can be found at this link.  Dinner is catered and open to the public ($20/person), reservations are required prior to 6 p.m., Monday prior to dinner, either on-line or call call 805 296-1935

Make plans to be here!  One of the largest events held at Estrella Warbirds Museum each year is Warbirds Wings and Wheels. Guess what? This year, we're going bigger and adding a MegaSwap Meet! We're making plans now for over 5,000+ visitors, a huge display of custom, stock, racing, military and classic vehicles, plus automotive swappers! We're expanding to include the MegaSwap on the east-west taxiway adjacent to the museum. And yes, there will a great selection of vendors, live music, raffles, a beer garden,  a dinner & barn dance the night before, food, kids zone and more!  Full information and registration information can be found here .

In 2016, Warbirds Wings & Wheels 8 was filmed for TV and featured by Dennis Gage of the show "My Classic Car." It aired on the Velocity channel, NBCSports Channel and others and will re-air in six months. This showing has generated considerable interest from people around the country who want to take part in the event this year.  Plus, Dennis Gage came back to the museum the first of April and filmed the Woodland Auto Display for yet another feature show! If you missed the first video, you can watch it on our website here .  Plan now to be part of Warbirds Wings & Wheels 9 & MegaSwap Meet!  Bring the kids!
