SUMMER 2022 TERM

Course Enrolment
Enrol in summer term course(s) by adding courses in your SOLUS account. The ASO course reserves are set to expire on the first day of classes Monday, May 9. If you do not have an active Summer 2022 term showing in SOLUS, email asc.online@queensu.ca with your student ID right away.

Before enrolling in SOLUS, review the course list prerequisites and exclusions on the online courses webpage and review the ASO webpage to learn how to add courses in SOLUS.

Ensure to change the "course career" to "undergraduate online" in SOLUS when searching for courses. Also note, the online proctored exam fee will be charged to your SOLUS account AFTER the last day to drop a course without financial penalty.

Course Load Recommendations
Summer term courses can be quite condensed and it is recommended that eligible students enrol in a maximum of two courses at a time, regardless of the unit value of the course. A full-time course load for the summer term is usually considered to be 9.0 units. Interest students are reminded that they are limited to a maximum of one course per term.

Please make yourself aware of the published deadlines if you wish to drop a course without financial (full refund) or academic penalty.

Taking on more than two courses during Summer Term does not constitute sufficient grounds for an academic appeal to drop courses after the deadline.
BECOME A TECH STEWARD & GAIN EMPLOYABLE SKILLS

We are pleased to announce that Queen’s is partnering with leading organizations to offer you the Technological Stewardship Practice Program (TSPP), free-of-charge this summer! This program is designed to help you integrate socio-ethical considerations into your work and navigate the competing priorities you will face throughout your career.

The program consists of a series of simple reflective exercises designed to overlay your technical work and innovation efforts during your experiential or work-integrated learning opportunities (e.g. internships, capstone projects, design teams etc). Its flexible design allows you to study at your own pace and to integrate it around your work.

Once you complete 18 hours of study over 18 weeks, you will earn a sought-after micro-credential for your resume and LinkedIn profile that will help you stand out in your field!

Registration for Summer 2022 is now open at https://bit.ly/3ufzhno. Registration closes on May 6. Contact the FAS Experiential Learning and Programming Team at asc.el@queensu.ca if you have any questions.
ACADEMIC STANDING ANNUAL REVIEW PROCESS

Academic standing is assessed once a year at the end of the Winter Term. This process will occur after May 12. All students registered in a degree or certificate program who have attempted a minimum of 18.0 units or more since the time of admission to the Faculty of Arts and Science, shall be assessed.

Students are expected to maintain a cumulative GPA of 1.60 or above to remain in good academic standing. Students who do not achieve this may receive an academic sanction such as being placed on academic probation or being required to withdraw.  Students not in good standing or at risk of not meeting requirements to graduate, will receive a letter via SOLUS on May 24 to confirm their academic standing.

Interest Student will NOT be assessed until they have attempted 18.0 units at Queen’s.

For more information about your GPA and Academic Standing, please see https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/undergrad-students/gpa-information-and-repair
