MESSAGE FROM FR. QUAN

Hello everybody!

We will kick-off our annual stewardship renewal this weekend at all Masses (March 2 & 3) for the upcoming fiscal year that begins July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. This year we are continually called to strengthen and think deeply of our own stewardship way of life. I invite every one of you to give of your time, talent and treasure to fulfill the mission entrusted to our parish. With your continued support, we can do even more in the coming year to build up St. Pats and the Kingdom of God. Please return your commitments by April 2. You can include your renewal envelopes in the weekend collection, mail or return to the parish office. Also, you can renew online at www.stpatlou.org. I would like to thank each of you for the many ways you have supported our mission, and ask that you please continue to support the work of our Church.

We look forward to seeing you for Young Adult Gathering with optional Adoration, tacos and games on Tuesday, March 5 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at John Paul II - Youth Room, located on the maintenance level of the elevator. This is a great opportunity for young adults to share joy and friendship to one another.

As we are on the Lenten journey this year, we continue to consider how God may be inviting us to stretch ourselves to live out the season more fully. May God bless all of our good works and our Lenten observances. Know of my thoughts and prayers for you all!

Peace,

Fr. Quan

Fr. Jeff Update

Hello everybody!

I apologize for not having an update last week, but my recovery continues to go better than I expected. I began to participate in one or two ministry activities each day last week and have increased that a little this week. I hope to be back full time very soon. I am continuing to do physical therapy and will see my surgeon again next Tuesday. Once again, I am incredibly grateful for our community, staff, and all who have assisted during this time. By God’s grace and providence, I hope to see you soon! God bless you.

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

What is something people do not know about you?

Most people probably do not know about me, that I was a sports business professional and University professor in my ‘former’ life. I am a cradle Catholic, but it was actually during my Ph.D. studies at Florida State University that I truly encountered Jesus, and it was then that He began His transformative work in me and led me on such a deep healing journey that changed everything in my life. In that process, I also felt called to leave that field of business for ministry. It has been a wild adventure since then with the Lord, very different from my previous journey and certainly not always easy, but one that I would not want to change for anything in the world.

What is your favorite scripture or prayer and why?

This is a hard one as there are several scriptures very close to my heart, but I will highlight two for this purpose, as they are very closely linked to each other, at least as it relates to my journey. First is Isaiah 40:31: “they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Second is Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” Both of these scriptures have been instrumental in my journey with the Lord repeatedly leading me back to them, over and over. One of the major things I have had to learn on this walk with God is waiting with the right heart, and that no matter what things looked like, God wanted me to keep His perspective of situations, people and circumstances. No matter how impossible or opposite to what God was saying, things or situations looked, He asked me to rise above, to soar, and see from His perspective and declare this over people, into those situations or circumstances in faith. And, in that process, I have had to trust the Lord with all my heart over and over, and He has done a deep work in me through that. I have experienced the Lord directing my path supernaturally in that surrender again and again.

What do you love most about your ministry/serving at St. Patrick?

What I love most about St. Patrick is our parish’s focus on helping people build relationship with Jesus and with each other. That is part of the call on my life to help lead people into that closer relationship with the Lord and so I feel blessed to be a part of that mission. We have a great ministry staff that I enjoy working with, and I truly enjoy sowing seeds into the next generation, and releasing what God has put inside of me into them as I have opportunity, as well as doing so into all the others I am serving and serving with.

Fielding the Future

Our Celtic Athletic Ministry (CAM) and Concession Ministry are teaming up during the Lenten Fish Fry season to help raise funds to purchase a new walk-in freezer that serves many events and activities around campus. In addition, funds raised will help offset the cost of sporting equipment for student athletes and keep sports registration at an affordable rate for families. Check out the auction items and raffles on the link. Drawing for raffles ends on March 15.
