Dear Friends,

Take a moment to inhale and uplift, exhale soften and think of something that makes you smile. Here’s a new one I have been working with – I give myself the instruction, “Take your weight out of your body.” There is no right way to do it – I like it because it is different, and it makes me feel lighter. Try it and let me know what you think.

Here on the west coast, we are having long days and warm temperatures – a hallmark of summer which can lead to more time outside experiencing how nature adjusts to changes. And I believe we too can skillfully adjust to changes as we continue to find our way forward.

These days there seems to be a lot to adjust to, lots of ups and downs – sometimes things are hard and sometimes they are easy. In both situations the practice is to keep our hearts open, be compassionate and have a sense of humor. So how do we do this? Back in the early 80’s we developed ways to ‘Come back to our center’, we would say, “It’s all in the recovery”. I like this definition of recovery – ‘The action or process of regaining possession or control of something lost.’ We lose our center all the time, the challenge is – how quickly can we recover?

Using simple, easy, and fun focusing devices, like the centering exercise above, makes the recovery more fluid. Or we could ask ourselves a question like, ‘What if there was a little more lightness and a little more openness?’ We know that changing muscle groups changes the hormones which changes our brain – so extending our arms and lengthening our spine can change the way our brain perceives a situation, it helps us see the bigger picture. The more we do it the easier it becomes to make the shift. We won’t stay relaxed and open for long, and…. we can keep touching into that centered state again and again.

Tiphani and I are happy to know that there are some in-person courses taking place again. In fact, she is going to do one right here at our place in Oregon in September. I am looking forward to the retreat in Scotland in August. It is great that more people are once again experiencing LE in person. I know that the practices can offer people a way to recover their center and be more Noble, Awesome and Shiny.

Wishing many blessings,

Wendy and Tiphani
