Adopt A Pet from the Lassen

County Animal Shelter – Margo

The Lassen County Animal Shelter was busy last week with surrenders, adoptions, and transfers to partner rescues; which is exactly where Margo came from. Margo is a shepherd from the Bay Area who was very stressed with crowded city life and is now looking forward to what the mountains, high desert, and what the people of Lassen County have to offer her.

Margo is estimated to be about 3 years old, is spayed, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, and microchipped.

Her ideal home will be with a dog savvy owner ready to put the time into consistent training for Margo so that she will know exactly what is expected of her. At this point in time, Margo has the habit of jumping up and mouthing, which is why staff recommends children in her potential new home to be 13+.

Thankfully, Margo is incredibly treat motivated and attentive. This girl is ready to learn and work. Not only is she beautiful, but she’s smart too. Further evaluations and testing will need to be done to assess Margo around other dogs. As far as cats go, Margo prefers a cat free home.

As always, please bring dogs who already live in the home for a meet and greet to ensure a good match. Please contact Lassen County Animal Shelter staff with questions/inquiries at 530.257.9200.

Featured animals at the Lassen County Animal Shelter are available for adoption on a first-come-first-serve basis. According to California law, all adoptable dogs and cats must be spayed and neutered before leaving our facility. If interested in adopting an animal, please contact the shelter directly.

Current shelter hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m.

Closed Saturday and Sunday. You can contact the shelter at 530.257.9200.

Youth Held for FBI Officials

February 26, 1946

Richard Langley, 19, who came here two weeks ago from Hayward, Calif., is being held for the FBI.

Officers state that Tuesday night, E. Homer Edgecomb, principal of the elementary schools, returned to his office in the McKinley building to find Langley in the place.

Nothing had been taken and according to Chief of Police W. O. Long, Langley said he had entered the school out of “curiosity as much as anything else.”

Upon investigation, it was found that Langley had never registered for the selective service and is being held on that basis for the federal agents, it is reported.
