Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance

On November 22nd, my administration proposed an inclusionary zoning (IZ) ordinance to the City Council. IZ is a tool that can be used to leverage market-rate housing development to create affordable housing opportunities for Lynn residents and push toward inclusive growth.

To learn more about what inclusionary zoning is and how it will impact the City of Lynn, view our latest infographic or read our press release.

Major Highlights

City "Hall"idays

Thank you to all who attended this year’s City "Hall"iday Festivities and for bringing your festive spirits.

Events like these warm our hearts as we see everyone gather for fun and celebration in our City—and we especially hope you feel welcomed at City Hall as we continue to showcase that it is a place accessible to all.

I also want to thank everyone in City Hall who worked tirelessly to bring this event to life, particularly the Department of Community Development, the Department of Public Works, all of the sponsors, and my team in the Mayor’s Office.

Unveiling Mayor McGee's Portrait

On November 29th, we gathered to unveil Mayor McGee’s portrait and recognize his accomplishments and leadership over his decades of public service, as well as celebrate his work on behalf of the residents and the City of Lynn.

Mayor McGee is a role model for the entire City and State—and especially to me. It was an honor to serve alongside Mayor McGee on the school committee, and to continue to work with him as a leader in this community.

Lynn is extremely lucky to have such a great leader like you!

Governor-elect & Lt. Governor-elect Visit

The City of Lynn was honored to welcome Governor-elect Healey and Lt. Governor-elect Driscoll as they visited Girls Inc.

They are truly an inspiration to so many here in Massachusetts and beyond!

Educational Visioning Session Community Forum

In November, there was a Pickering Middle School Building Project workshop that was a collaborative virtual session that informs the design of the renovated and/or new Pickering Middle School facility.

Participants had the opportunity to share their thoughts about the educational goals and architectural priorities they would like to establish for the project.

Turkey Drive

The Mayor’s Office is grateful for the partnership with Boston Dialogue Foundation for a Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, which allowed us to provide turkey donations to numerous Lynn families in need.

Additionally, we would like to thank all our volunteers for their hard work.

LPD Ride Around

I joined LPD’s Bike Patrol Team for a first-ever Mayoral ride-along.

It was great to be able to ride around the Downtown and experience how they work and interact with the community every day.

Urban Agenda Grant

We are grateful to Sec. Kennealy for funding the Urban Agenda Grant program, which represents an amazing collaboration between the state, the City, and local organizations that will drive economic development forward in our community in a truly inclusive manner.

Halloween at City Hall

We had an amazing turnout at last night’s Halloween at City Hall event on November 1st! Families gathered to participate in arts and crafts, enjoy delicious treats, and meet with the various departments of the City at their decorated tables.

Congratulations to the departments that were voted as the community favorites in the spooky table decorating contest, especially the Senior Center, as they won first place!
