Happy Holidays to our Worldwide

Baba family!

As 2024 draws to a close we are so very grateful for the outpouring of love and support from all of you as well as for the progress your generosity has made possible.

We are now getting closer and closer to our goal of securing the sacred sites in and around Prague, OK associated with Meher Baba's 1952 auto accident.

An incredibly generous $50,000 match offered recently prompted such an enthusiastic response that not only has that match been met, but we’ve exceeded it! Thank you to all of the individuals who so lovingly contributed.

Although your response has been heartening and exciting, we are not yet halfway to our fundraising goal of $1.5 million.

If you haven’t already, we hope you’ll take this opportunity to make a tax-deductible contribution this year to ensure we will be ready when the hospital where Baba and the mandali were treated and the lands adjoining the accident site become available for sale.

And how rewarding it’s been to have clear signs that this goal appears to be more achievable than ever. Prague’s city manager, Jim Greff, has expressed his confidence that the hospital will move and the building will come up for sale within the next few years.

Progress...!

As we announced last month, the corner lot, once intended by the hospital for additional parking, was no longer of interest to them as there would be no need for it when they relocated. With that confirmation, the lot was purchased and became officially part of the Heartland Center, which now encompasses three of the four lots on the city block. Once the hospital is able to move, and by His blessing we acquire this crown jewel, we envision the entire block as a flourishing center honoring Meher Baba’s loving sacrifice on behalf of us all.

More about 2024:

A Rewarding and Productive Year!

The enthusiasm for the Heartland Center’s future is palpably growing as more Baba lovers make the pilgrimage to His sacred sites in and around Prague and appreciate the deep significance of His work there.

Beyond the Heartland Center’s continual planning to secure these sites, it’s been a full and active year.

On May 24th, the anniversary of Baba’s accident, we held our annual Sahavas, both in person and virtually. Peter Booth headlined the virtual Sahavas, focusing on the importance of Mehera’s role in sharing Baba’s suffering during the accident. Australian singer/songwriter Jacob Horsey entertained us with his moving music. We also showed a short video of Nancy Nordeen, whose 11 children all became Baba lovers. Nancy recalled her two memorable trips to Prague shortly after the 1952 accident. It was another 20 years before she even heard Baba’s name!

In October, Ward Parks led a study group on the importance of the New Life which was held at the Morrison House. In addition to his marvelous scholarship, we were fortunate to have Julia Margaret Burleson in attendance. She is the daughter of Dr. Ned Burleson who treated Baba and the mandali after the accident. Having met Meher Baba as a child, she has been an ardent supporter and advocate for the Heartland Center.

I was so blessed to be with you all,” she wrote afterward. “I always learn so much from you and I really need to be with Baba lovers. I miss that so much…. Baba’s love to all.

Another participant wrote:

It was hands-down the best Baba gathering I have ever attended! YES! I loved that even after 6 hours of daily intense focus on the New Life, we all still wanted to talk about Baba at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and beyond. It was like a dream come true for me to find Baba Lovers who gravitate to Him as you all do, in your minds and hearts and in the way you all expressed care and welcoming for each of the others at the Heartland Center homes.

Throughout the year, we also continued to upgrade the pilgrim accommodations at the Morrison House. We rebuilt the roof deck over the kitchen, added a new screened-in porch, and finished renovating the garage.

An exciting time to become involved and contribute your support!

First and foremost, we hope you will visit the Heartland Center and experience first-hand the significance of Meher Baba’s sacred sites in Prague. Details on how to plan your pilgrimage can be found on our visit page.

Once you’ve made the journey to the Prague Regional Memorial Hospital, spent time in the space where the Avatar and His mandali recuperated for twelve days, and then visited the exact spot where the accident took place, we believe your hearts will be moved to join our efforts to secure these sacred places for all time.

If you’d like to get involved in the growth and future of the Heartland Center, please let us know by emailing us at contact@ambheartlandcenter.org. Our Donate Page also offers lots of information about the various ways to contribute financially.
