2024 State of the UU and

Annual Stewardship Campaign Kick-off

This Sunday, February 25, 2024

11:45 am-12:30 pm

After the service at the Fellowship

Please plan on staying for lunch after the service this coming Sunday followed by the annual "State of the UU" and Annual stewardship Campaign Kick-off presentation. This will be an opportunity to reflect on highlight from the past year since our last "State of the UU' in February 2023 and to announce the official launch of the annual campaign when we invite members of the congregation to make a financial commitment for the next fiscal year.

Hospitality this Sunday

This fourth Sunday of the month, February 25th, we ask that people with surnames T-Z who can, please bring food to share after our 10am service.

Thank you for helping out with lunch clean up by doing your part to dispose of trash properly. There is new signage in the kitchen to assist you in knowing which bin to use.

Food waste along with compostable plates and cups go in the compost bin while plastic forks and knives go in the trash cans.

If you'd like to bring your own reusable flatware in a baggie and

take it home to wash, that's a great sustainable option.

Stay tuned for the Fellowship's switch to compostable flatware as

we are planning for this once we have used up all the plastic supplies on hand. For more information about where to dispose

of trash, see this flyer.

Thank you so much for your contributions.

Be A Great Greeter

We are a Welcoming Congregation! Would you like to be part of the Greeter Team that helps makes that happen? This is a great way to meet people – long standing Members and first time visitors. You can provide that welcoming presence which makes such a difference. We’ll show you ‘the ropes’ and help you feel comfortable in the role providing additional coverage about 1 Sunday/month. For more information: please contact Wendy Wyckoff (wwyckoff2@gmail.com) or Ginny Aragon (gkaragon@aol.com).

Adult Religious Education Offerings

EMOTIONAL VERSATILITY TRAINING, PART 1

Starts March 7 @ 7:00– 9:00 pm

A 10-week, in person course will begin March 7, 2024, and end May 7, 2024. Classes will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at the Fellowship, with optional practica on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Thursday, also 7:00-9:00pm.

This is a FREE cognitive and experiential course showing how four of the nine inborn emotions work to shape our experiences in life. We will also study their application to enhance and repair relationships.

Along with a general introduction and radical empathy games,

Part 1 will explore interest-excitement, shame, joy and distress-sadness. Since this is a PILOT, we hope attendees will share their emotional experiences in the practica and give feedback throughout the course, for their substantial contribution will help with revisions to improve its' ultimate impact.

Part 2’s 10 classes will begin May 16. They focus on anger, surprise, fear, disgust and contempt, each followed by related practica as well.

UUers and the wider community are welcome to attend the first class and practicum to check them out. We hope that those returning on March 21 will come to all the other classes. (Practica are always optional.)

February Shared Plate

The February shared plate will be collected on behalf of

the Unitarian Universalist Society for Community Ministries,

or UUSCM.

Our affiliated community minister Rev. Terra Collier-Young

is a co-president and Good Officer for this

UU professional organization.

“UUSCM recognizes that Community Ministries are diverse

in both who and how they serve the world.

We strive to heal what is broken, create an environment

where justice is served, inspire humanity to its best practices,

and promote harmony with the Spirit of Life.”

Celebration of Life
for Todd Geiger & Paul Haut

The Steering Committee is moving forward with plans for the Saturday, March 2nd, 1-3 pm, Celebration of Life in the names

of Todd and Paul.

We're expecting people from different circles of their lives and we at the UU will be hosting those community members as well as our own.

There are no family members of either Todd or Paul attending or supporting this service. As we move forward we would like to ask for help with some specific tasks:

  • Pictures of them, either together or with you our UU Fellowship (there will be a slide show but we'd like some paper pics as well. Please give Peg copies, not your only original photos).
  • Set up (12-1 pm) and/or Clean up (3-4 pm).
  • Bring potluck items and beverages/or financial contributions for deli plates and beverages.
  • Tech help with the slideshow (day of event...possibly a bit the day before for troubleshooting).

Please RSVP if you will attend the memorial service. We want to make sure we order the correct amount of food. Thank you! Steering Committee: Rico Lange, Tim Morstad and Peg Galli.

Be a part of the Music for 3/2 Memorial

Hello UUFSCC Members and Friends. I'm inviting all past and present members of the Choir as well as the singing Men's Group to sing with us on March 2nd to honor our dear friends Todd Geiger and Paul Haut.

In case you didn't know , Todd sang with our Choir every Sunday for almost 6 years, and Paul was often our featured soloist. Both Paul and Todd sang with Carol in the Men's Group for Christmas Eve and Easter. We miss their devotion to UUFSCC, to each other and to ourselves.

We will be singing "Go Lifted Up" which is an absolutely beautiful song, imparting peace and love to ourselves and to our dead friends. Here is a site so you can listen and get some inspiration.

"Go Lifted Up"

I devoutly hope you'll join Carol and I. We will have one short practice on the day of the memorial, Saturday March 2nd at 1230 in the Gallery. All voices welcome.

Please let me know if we can count on you.
