We had our second DRI Community Meeting on Saturday, April 30, where attendees provided feedback on the proposed DRI projects. If you couldn't make it this past weekend, it’s not too late to share your thoughts and ideas. All project descriptions and a survey can be found here https://bit.ly/ossiningdri, or you can provide feedback here https://forms.office.com/r/mBW0XERU7X!
We're holding our fourth DRI Local Planning Committee (LPC) on Thursday, May 5, from 12pm – 2pm. The LPC will be discussing the Downtown Profile and Assessment, project evaluation criteria, and hearing presentations about three of the proposed DRI projects: the Sing Sing Prison Museum Preview Center, the Olive Opera House, and the Louis Engel Park Performance Space. At the end of the meeting, there will be a public comment period.
This will be a hybrid meeting so that you can attend in person at 16 Croton Avenue in the Board Room or via Zoom.

On Friday, May 13th, @ 9 AM, I will be hosting the first annual COVID-19 Remembrance Memorial at Nelson Sitting Park. This year’s COVID Memorial service will be dedicated to Ossining’s First Responders.

Residents & visitors can come here to contemplate and pay homage to family, friends, neighbors, and loved ones lost during the pandemic. The Ossining community is invited to come here to reflect and pay tribute to family, friends, neighbors, and loved ones lost during the pandemic.
This week’s Legislative Meeting will take place on Wednesday, 5/4 at 7:30PM over Zoom.

Some items of note:

This week’s meeting begins with a Public Hearing on the ebikes & escooters local law discussed at last week's Work Session.

Two special presentations will follow the Public Hearing:
  • A Volunteer Board and Committee Presentation by HPC Chair Adam Markovics.
  • The most recent iterations of the Village seal will be discussed as a second Special Presentation.

There will be resolution regarding:
  • Cabaret license for Hudson Valley Books (Hudson Valley Books for Humanity).
  • There will also be a resolution to confirm the Village's desire to fully enhance the pool and pool area. The proposed expenditure is expected to be no more than $1.1million: $600K toward the pool and locker room improvements to be supplied by the Village to match the $500K SAM grant we got from Assemblywoman Galef.
  • There is a license agreement for the extension of the use of Village space behind 195 Main Street (as a result of the Village's dumpster program coming to an end).
  • Finally, the BOT will be asked to call for a Public Hearing for the Proposed Honorary Street Naming for Neil Woolf (as a reminder, the plan is to unveil the new sign at the Village Fair on June 11th).
For those members of our community who are celebrating Mother's Day, we wish you all a wonderful and meaningful family time honoring those that raised us. Don’t forget to shop locally and celebrate at our fine selection of restaurants with your moms.
