Every year Dawson County gives out approximately 350-500 backpacks full of school supplies to Dawson County students to help them walk into school the first day confident, prepared, and ready to SUCCEED!

Want to help? Feel free to: 1: order school supplies from our Amazon Wishlist (supplies will be delivered directly to us!), 2: drop items off at our office, 3: make a monetary donation (often the best option so we can purchase missing items!), or 4: drop items off at a collection bin (locations tbd soon!).

CarePortal, through Promise686, has arrived in Dawson County! It was launched on May 15th, as many hopeful people from our community gathered to celebrate! During our time together, the first need was entered into the CarePortal system by our DFCS staff and then was met by members of one of our local churches! That first need entered was to help strengthen a local family by providing 3 dressers for them to be able to declutter their home. This family was blessed by having the dressers to eliminate some stress in their household and by the knowledge that people in their local churches care about them. The local churches who have joined the CarePortal team are Cornerstone Christian Church, North Georgia Church, Canvas Christian Church, and Brown's Bridge Church. We are so thankful for these churches and their hearts for vulnerable families! We encourage other Dawson County churches to join in so that more family's lives can be transformed. At SHP, we fully believe that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. When it was brought to our attention that the need for beds went far beyond our own neighborhoods, we stepped up and took initiative. We’re a national organization answering the call to a national problem.

If a child needs a bed, we want to make sure they get one. No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!
