In Celebration of the Nuggets Historic NBA Finals Appearance, Bannock Street Renamed
"Denver Nuggets Way"
In case you haven't heard, the Denver Nuggets are headed to the 2023 NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history! In celebration, Mayor Hancock, along with Denver Nuggets mascot Rocky and Chief Operating Officer of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment Matt Hutchings, unveiled the renamed "Denver Nuggets Way" on Bannock St Plaza on Wednesday, May 31. The Nuggets Dancers and "Voice of the Nuggets" Kyle Speller cheered as Rocky, the Mayor, and Hutchings were raised in a lift above Bannock St to reveal Denver Nuggets Way.
June 1 Through the NBA Finals Declared "Navy & Gold" Week
Also on Wednesday, Mayor Hancock declared
June 1 through the end of the championship
"Navy & Gold" Week throughout the City and County of Denver ahead of the home court Game 1 at Ball Arena. Get out your Nuggets gear and wear it proudly! And while you're at it, get a picture of yourself in front of the Nuggets Way sign.

Denver Chalk Art Festival Returns to the
Golden Triangle in June
The 2023 Denver Chalk Art Festival returns June 10 & 11 for its second year at its new home two blocks south of Civic Center Park. Nestled in the Golden Triangle Arts District surrounded by the Denver Art Museum, Kirkland Museum, and Clyfford Still Museum, there is no better place to appreciate incredible art!

The festival will feature live music, food trucks, and a Kid's Corner for aspiring young artists to create their own chalk art masterpieces.

Juneteenth Music Festival Celebrates
Freedom in Historic Five Points
The Welton St corridor in Historic Five Points will transform into the center of culture, freedom, and celebration during the Juneteenth Music Festival on Sat, June 17 & Sun, June 18, 2023.

Juneteenth commemorates the day the last enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom a shocking TWO YEARS after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

The event will be kicked off by its iconic parade on Saturday, June 17 at 11am where nearly 5,000 participants will march. The two-day street festival will feature plenty of music, a vendor market, food and activities for all ages.

Don't forget to stop by the 13th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Celebration in Cousins Plaza on Sat, June 17 & Sun, June 18 from 10am - 5pm. The event kicks off the 13th Annual Mo' Betta Green MarketPlace season. The celebration will feature live music, yoga, dance, tai chi and free gifts for the community.
Appreciate Japanese Culture at the Annual Cherry Blossom Festival at Sakura Square
The 49th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates Japanese heritage and culture on Sat, June 17, 11 am – 6 pm and Sun, June 18, 11 am – 4 pm in Sakura Square.

The two-day event features live entertainment and Taiko drumming, Japanese food and drink, a marketplace on Larimer St, demonstrations as well as informational booths highlighting local organizations vital to the Denver Japanese and Japanese American community. The Cherry Blossom Festival is the largest fundraiser for the Tri-State/Denver Buddhist Temple and Sakura Foundation.
Show Your Pride! Denver Pride Fest and
Parade Return
The Denver PrideFest weekend is the culmination of an entire week celebrating the LGBTQ+ and allied communities in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region!

The weekend kicks off with the Pride 5K on Saturday, June 24 from 8 – 11am at the State Capitol.

The two-day annual Denver PrideFest takes place at Civic Center Park on Sat, June 24, 11 am – 7 pm and Sun, June 26, 10 am – 6 pm. The Fest includes over 250 exhibitors, 30 food and beverage vendors and live performances all weekend long.

Denver’s annual PrideFest Parade takes place on Sun, June 26. The parade steps off at 9:30 am from Cheesman Park, proceeds past more than 100,000 cheering friends that will line 14 blocks of Colfax Avenue and ends at the State Capitol where a rally will feature speakers addressing current LGBTQ+ issues. Find your spot along the route and enjoy the colorful floats and entertainment!

The Denver PrideFest activities are produced by The Center on Colfax, the third-oldest LGBTQ+ community center in the country. The Center engages, empowers, enriches and advances the LGBTQ+ community through statewide advocacy and nationally recognized cultural and educational programming.
