President's Message

As we head into the second half of the year, Council is preparing to meet for our bi-monthly meeting to review committee reports and take care of business that is ongoing. The more frequent meetings have been a positive change this year, as we are able to respond more quickly to events and to continue discussions that span a larger period of time. I’m looking forward to making progress on all of our projects and discussions for the year.

Over the last 5 years we have had increased collaboration with ECVDI and have had our presidents attending each ACVR and ECVDI meeting. I am planning to attend the ECVDI Board meeting in Dublin this month to provide context from our joint committees (CSOC, ITEC) as well as keep abreast of the ECVDI initiatives. Our colleges have much in common, and collaboration is helping us all to progress in our goals.

While reviewing our activities this year, I recently learned some exciting news about the Abdominal ultrasound consensus statement. The document has been viewed on Wiley over 26,000 times, which is 12,000 views more than any other article within 12 months of publication since we began tracking in 2010. A number of factors have contributed to its success, including a topic that has broad interest, the open access availability, and of course most importantly the expertise and excellence of the subcommittee who developed and published the article. This measure of impact is also the result of our past Council members, leadership, and joint vision of the ACVR and ECVDI to create the Consensus Statement Oversight Committee to envision and enact these types of publications and to raise our profile in the veterinary community. Congratulations to everyone involved and many thanks for your work on these projects.

Best Regards,

Allison Zwingenberger
President, ACVR

ACVR Webmaster's Message

The ACVR would like to support Radiology Clubs organized by the various veterinary universities. If you are a faculty mentor to these programs, please let me know. If you can provide a list of the students participating in radiology clubs, I will reach out to them. The ACVR can sponsor rounds and provide prizes to students and their mentors for participating. Selected cases reviewed in our rounds will then be published as Case of the Month on ACVR.org. The cases and rounds will be geared towards entry-level understanding of radiology appropriate for veterinary students. Thanks!
