Over the past season, the Skate Ontario Officials team has been collaborating with the officials’ community in ways to recognize & acknowledge our officials’ dedication and commitments to our athletes and sport.

Skate Ontario would not be able to provide our athletes with various opportunities without your continued support and dedication. We are proud to announce the following:

  • Gift cards – increased to $20/day for Skate Ontario hosted events (Sectional, Synchro, & Provincial Series)
  • Tech Rep Event Honorarium – for Skate Ontario hosted events (Sectional, Synchro, & Provincial Series)
  • Clinics & Development Opportunities – removed registration fee
  • Travel stipends are available for Section Level Judges/Technical Panel Officials for selected opportunities

Sectional Series October

Thank you to all that completed the Sectional Series Availability Survey. The Assignments – Sectional Series working group reviewed the 142 surveys that were received and have worked through whom to be invited to each event.

Invitations have been sent out for the Sectional Series October.

We hope that you can appreciate that we cannot invite all the officials that indicated availability for this event. The response to attend the October event surpasses the number of officials required.

Competition Scoring System (CSS)

As you may know Skate Canada has launched a new version of Competition Scoring System, CSS. In order to access the system all officials are required to use the same login that they use for the Skate Canada Membership Site. This is the same login that you use to access updates and the eLearning materials.

If you do not know your login information please contact [email protected] for assistance. In the subject line indicate that it is required for CSS Login.

It is recommended that you write this information down someplace that you will have access to on event day.

Officials Pathways Webinar - STAR 1-4 & Base Level Technical Official

Please share the information below with those that you think would be a great addition to our team.

Are you considering a new pathway as an Official?  Skate Ontario is hosting a webinar on Sunday August 27th at 7pm for anyone looking for more information about how to start a new pathway as either a STAR 1-4 Event Assessor or Base Level Technical Official. The webinar will share details about upcoming in-person and virtual training opportunities in Fall 2023 along with anticipated timelines for becoming active as an official following training. We are often in need of officials at the STAR 1-4 and Provincial Series events across our province in many regions so we encourage anyone interested in one of these pathways to attend to learn more and ask questions.

Please sign up to attend using the following link: https://forms.gle/w1gPy7ER7SgDxUS98

 Upcoming Education & Development Opportunities

1. Not Officiating Right Away - Practice with Streamed Events

Take advantage of an opportunity to practice online before your first event! This season all Sectional Series events will be live streamed. This is a great opportunity for everyone to take some time and brush off the rust after a few months away from the rink. From the comfort of your own home, you can practice online, see what’s coming for the season and strengthen your assessment skills. Links to the competition schedules, live streaming links and detailed results will be available at Skate Ontario Detailed Events.

For any questions regarding Officials development or event support, please reach out to Therese Bilsborough, Manager, Officials.

For any questions regarding evaluating and Assessment Days, please reach out to Dia Sue-Wah-Sing, Coordinator, Officials.
