Women in Healthcare Committee Kickoff Event

Thank you to all who attended the inaugural event of the ACMS Women in Healthcare Committee on August 9 at the Longue Vue Club. Over 60 attendees participated in this sold-out event. The Pink Patio at the Longue Vue Club was the perfect backdrop to celebrate National Women's Day. Attendees heard remarks from ACMS Executive Director, Sara Hussey; committee Co-Chairs Anu Anand, MD and Tiffany DuMont, DO; and keynote remarks from Margaret Larkins-Pettigrew, MD, MEd, MPPM, FACOG. The ACMS Women in Healthcare committee will meet in September to plan their next event and discuss the various ways that this committee can provide support, advocacy, and leadership training to female physicians.

Congressional Update: Action Needed to Fix Medicare

An Update from the AMA

For those physicians who are meeting virtually or in person with their legislators and staff, a variety of resource material is available on a dedicated web site, FixMedicareNow.org, including plain language explanations of the need for: automatic, annual inflation-based payment updates, reforms to budget neutrality policies, and simplifying the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).

Last year's success led to a significant amount of personal engagement, press coverage, and mental health resources. While we can't promote every event, we have introduced the ACMS Community Events page on our website, akin to a virtual corkboard for non-profit organizations and charities.
