Dear Residents -

Sadly, this morning, in the very early hours, two burglaries occurred in Orangetown. Fortunately, no one was hurt and I am pleased to say that one of the (very shaken) homeowners told me that the Orangetown Police Department did a great job when they responded. So, please remember to lock your windows and doors, set your security system, if you have one, and stay vigilant. Unfortunately, Orangetown is not immune to the increase in crime that is plaguing New York.

Next Tuesday, the last Town Board meeting of the year is at 7 pm at Town Hall. Of interest, the Public Hearing on the Petition for a Zone Change for three lots off Western Highway in Blauvelt from R-80 to R-15 will be resumed that night. As a reminder, if you cannot attend a meeting, it can be viewed on Facebook Live, FIOS Channel 30, Cablevision Channel 78, or the next day on YouTube. And, as always, comments can be submitted to Supervisor@Orangetown.com or the Town Clerk at TownClerk@orangetown.com.

Now, onto happier things – like the holidays! You know they are upon us just by looking at all the events taking place around town this week. Tonight, is the Pearl River Rotary Club’s Share Christmas and the Holidays, and tomorrow is the Orangeburg Fire House’s Great Holiday Parade. But there’s more, so be sure to scroll down to the end and to check back next week for more information on local Hanukkah celebrations.

Have a great weekend everyone and stay safe and warm!

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny
